I recommend showing up before your tee time to mingle and get warmed up—the range is a short cart ride away. There’s no real programming before the round because of the staggered start, but we’ll all be hanging out afterwards!
Made fast friends with my group going off at 1:48 (yup, the ol’ caboose)….we’re going to plumb bob AND aim point our asses off to set up a dramatic finish just as the sun is setting over the Chesapeake and the heavy artillery is firing away at Aberdeen.
Looking at my Electric Phactory colleagues to have a have a frosty beverage ready for me 18 say around at 7:30ish.
Bulle usually sets up a nice grass range for those that need to grind before the round. They also have a pretty good pro shop and bar/restaurant/patio for pre/post round hangs
Have you had any interest in staying over and playing on Sunday? I’m thinking about it if you have interest/room for another player.
I did end up booking a hotel to stay over as driving back 3.5 hours didn’t seem ideal.
No Sunday golf plans as of now - didn’t seem like there was much interest so I’ll probably just head back to Virginia in the morning (which will make my wife happier I’m sure).
Electric Phactory having an outing on Sunday at Deerfield (old DuPont, then MBNA, turned public course just outside Newark, DE). Couple exits north on 95 from Havre de Grace…@mikerevak is our captain and I messaged him about openings…we’ll let you know.
The starter will be enforcing pace of play.
Hat should 100% be PLY FST. But the attack on vowels is getting out of control.
I know you’re joking, but if pace of play gets that slow for the middle groups, I’ll be leaving after 9.
I’ve played with ~25 of the folks who are playing in this and looking at the groups I think we’ll be fine (I’m in the group after you).
I’ll be done first and watching people come up 18. If there’s a considerable gap between groups then slow-play penalties are not off the table. There will be some language on the scorecard reflecting this.
Dang gonna pull an Andy
Damn straight! Not to mention that the most probable reason for slow play is people taking things way too seriously. This is a relaxed tournament and the primary purpose is to meet good folks, raise money for the First Tee, and have a good time. Nobody is enjoying themselves when someone in their group spends 3 minutes lining up a bogey putt, or you’re sitting in the fairway watching that happen for 18 holes.
lay down the law @RobertHunter - that’s the good stuff.
Can anyone resend the link with the tee times? I think I’ve had a moment and deleted it forever. I can pull the roster on Golfgenius but not the tee times. Thanks in advance.
I’ve got you going off at 1:36pm with @cupp @kmitchell and C Brooks.
Word, thank you Robert.
I would also like to mention the course we’re playing is the namesake of the alleged first ever thoroughbred racehorse brought to America, Bulle Rock, Circa 1730 AD. I find this fitting seeing as how we’re playing on the same day as the 148th running of the Kentucky Derby. Perhaps this can provide some inspiration for @KVV to write about Maryland’s rich horse racing history and somehow tie it into this event and beyond. Get your accounts charged and place your bets ladies and gentlemen!
Mea Culpa: 149th running of the Kentucky Derby.
thinking about doing the same… i have a crap ton of marriott points to burn.
