I just finished watching the last NLU podcast about their eBay scavenger hunt and it may be one of my favorite NLU episodes of all time, certainly at least of recent memory. The ball stencils and GP record stopped me in my tracks. Fantastic finds. I hope the fellas follow through on their plan to make this an annual pod and cannot wait to see what they do with a slightly larger budget and a full year of planning and research.
I’m no collector, but I am sure plenty of people here do collect golf memorabilia and have found some absolute gems on eBay or other online shops. I am super curious what your best finds are.
Made the mistake of flipping it on YouTube around 11pm last night. And I say mistake because there was no way I was turning it off and ended up watching the entire thing even though I had to get up early for work. One of the all timers for sure, already can’t wait for next year’s game.
This was a great watch. I’m kind of a big “random stuff on eBay” fan and oddly enough, I was just going down the autographed rookie card rabbit hole a few days ago.
I didn’t pull the trigger on this signed Marty Dou card.
Not sure I’d classify this as a best my find, but I recently picked this up for my wife on eBay:
Background:
My wife™ and I made our first trip to Pebble/Monterey Peninsula in 2021 and we completely fell in love with it. For anyone wondering, people who live within gated confines of Pebble Beach put these little metal tags on their car to help with access past the toll/gated section for entry into Pebble and 17 mile drive. Some of the really old tags can go for a lot more money but given significance of our trip in 2021, I plan to mount it to some sort of display with a photo and give it to her later this year for our “Metal” anniversary.
My grandpa used to live in pebble beach. I never realized how lucky I was to go visit there every year. Unfortunately he wasn’t one of the ones with generational wealth. I wish we would’ve thought to snag these tags when he passed.
They should turn this into a secret santa type thing they do during the holidays, and they open up the ebay finds they receive from others on a live show
