I listed to the podcast last night in bed with my Airpods in around 11:30. When DJ brought up the stencils I couldn’t contain myself and woke my wife up from laughing out loud. I did in fact purchase those stencils this morning. I can’t wait for my next round and ask someone to identify my ball.
I had a bunch of starting line-ups as a kid. Have the entire original Dream Team lineup as well as a bunch of early 90s NFL and NBA stars. They’re all currently in a bin somewhere in my basement and haven’t seen the light of day in years but that didn’t stop me from immediately going to eBay after hearing @KVV talk about his purchase and adding an Arnold Palmer one to my cart.
Everyone in my office now thinks I’m a fucking lunatic. I’ve laughed uncontrollably for the past 90 minutes.
Exceptional effort by everyone involved.

Also, the best Stephen Ames piece I could find … he needed that miracle
Words cannot express how awesome the tulip logo on the pineapple was and it makes me sad that United no longer sponsors the tournament (having a corporate incentive to go to Hawaii would have been nice too).
This is the only Rocky Thompson video I can find. First, his estate should sue the Utah resort for trademark infringement.
I wish the groin thrust video was more prevalent, but at least this video highlights that Payne Stewart wasn’t the only fan of plus-4s. Knickers look even more funny on a shorter dude.
Confession: I kinda wanted a Killer Bee driver back when I was a very short hitting teen, and in college I experimented with a 48" shaft, though I abandoned it after about 6 months. You do hit it farther but holy shit is it hard to control.
Speaking of Faldo sweaters @Tron - I bought one a few months ago lol
@soly, What are the logos on the side of that cool as fuck 2001 Ryder Cup hat?
TYFYS. I appreciate it.
That hat is class.
@djpie you bought one of the bag tags I had on my watchlist. I had bought a different one for @RunItOut and noticed he had a bunch of other local-ish tags in Illinois. I had planned on buying at some point but I’m glad it went to a good home. He has a bunch of others to choose from even a couple other extinct courses, namely Hawthorn Ridge in nearby Aledo, IL which I loved but only got to play once. Not sure if the link works but check and see if your favorite course is there!
As a habitual eBay scroller, this pod was hitting on all cylinders.
I have a good bit of random golf stuff, but one severely random golf item had eluded me until last Saturday.
I walked into a golf store I’ve been going to usually once a year since my early 20’s, and they were sadly closing down soon. I did my usual perusal and saw my holy grail sitting in a corner.
I am speaking of a giant scale 1996 Callaway Big Bertha 5-Iron Sales Sample. For some reason, this thing had imprinted on me from my days of seeing it at a Pro Golf Discount in my home town when everything Big Bertha was the rage. I started talking to the owner about it and he made me an offer I couldn’t say no to. I’ve seen them before, but they were either not for sale or the shipping was going to be catastrophically high. I also had my car and room for it (also a saintly wife who didn’t want to divorce me on the spot).
One Amex swipe and it was finally mine. Utterly pointless and ridiculous, but it’s mine.
(Middle-aged man for scale)
@Soly I can be at TPC Myrtle Beach in 15 minutes to try and steal DJ’s 2010 Ryder Cup rain jacket that’s on display near the pro shop.
Venmo is open.
I really need a man cave so I can start collecting
Motion to update the pod intro to Gary Player Sings.
I recall multiple golf shops in the 90s having the Great Big Bertha and Biggest Big Bertha driver versions of those clubs. I wonder if those shops had to pay extra to display those.
Can you please throw a link to those stencils. I need to make some thoughtful gifts for some friends.
