Dry Heat GC Presents: The Inaugural Chile Pepper Classic - Albuquerque, NM | April 15

In that case, let’s do this.

I may be the most vanity 1.2 on Earth right now. I will maybe make some birdies, I will probably take more careless bogeys. With courses slowly opening up here in Utah, I will do my best to get my game in decent shape in the next couple weeks.

I’ll also pump tires of teammate as much as needed. Lots of morale boost. No apologies allowed for bad shots, that makes for a bad day. Good shots will require high fives, fist bumps, or slap hands. Above average green reader when motivated.

Lastly, I grew up in west Texas and we identify more with New Mexico culture than most of Texas culture. Let’s get some green chiles in our system and leggo.

@jsg_nado I want to form Team Blades but I’m not sure if that would be fair to the rest of the field?

I mean I’m about to get soft capped I’m playing so poorly

My advantages as a teammate are strictly vibes based at this time

Also I’m way in on Arroyo del Oso friday pm. Looks sick.

I love the Dam 9. It simultaneously has the best overall collection of short par fours in town while also having one of the worst par fours in America (#7). The fives are awesome too.

Really looking forward to this. I’ve got a 3 hr drive Saturday, so the later the better for me. Have never played any of the public tracks in ABQ, so looking forward to something new. Not playing well or often these days, but jazzed to meet all of you and have a great time!

Awesome! We won’t be starting the afternoon round around 1:30 so that should be fine (unless you really want to start early to get here by 9). Los Altos is definitely the weakest of the muni courses but (a) it’s still a great walk and (b) it won’t be aerated yet.

Just looked at the Google doc. I’m out on Friday and in on Sat and Sun. It’s not letting me update for whatever reason.

Life comes at ya fast… due to a change at work, I am relocating to Portland. Closing on my house up there is 4/13, so not sure if I’ll make it back for Saturday round(s), but out Friday for sure. Will keep y’all posted, but probably best to assume I’m a soft Maybe for Sat am, slightly-firmer maybe for Sat pm.

Sorry :disappointed:

The upside - my new house is seven minutes from my new home course

That second shot is a good 30 feet uphill too

Is hitting into the dirt or desert area past the fairway dead dead?

What about going right, getting line of sight relief, then pitching up from there?

Yeah it’s loose scrub, not even the firm semi-playable stuff. In the summer it’s conceivable to drive over it but it’s a downhill 300 carry if memory serves.

The best play is blade your approach shot directly into the dam. Can confirm.

Went to the range yesterday and played 18 today. Probably my last golf until the trip. Ballstriking and putting rounding into form. My game off the tee is so bad. I am 95% sure I’ll be putting the persimmon on the bench :sob:

I went through the same exact thing. Ts and Ps.

Is it still cool if I play for fun as a marker on the competition day? Saw there may be an even number of players and wanted to make sure.

Played the Dam 9 this weekend and miraculously got out with a par on 7. This was after my second shot came up short and rolled all the way back down to the base of the hill. I’ve been skimming the Worst Golf Holes thread over the past few days and feel 7 might deserve an entry, but I’m currently on good terms with it haha

Absolutely! We will make it work - plenty of match formats we can use.

First peak at next friday’s weather. Hopefully we get a crispy Marty Sanchez (not as crispy as Arroyo was last weekend though please cc: @Breakfast_Ball_Hite)
