Us if we play together on Friday:
I’ll bring plenty of 4" tees just in case.
Can we get a format announcement for the duel? @imsocrabby and I have to work out our strategy
In one week I will be sitting at the Chili’s in DFW drinking termies with @Snellspace, @nickp, and @SliceyMcShankerston before our flight to CVG. Insert Bart Scott gif.
Salivating now, thank you. Gotta make sure we hit the ground with a buzz in tow
omg……thanks for the invite.
Are you actually on the 8:40 flight out of DFW next Thursday?
For all who are interested, a number of us will be playing an alternative 2-person format on Friday afternoon at Reeves.
When: Let’s say around 2:00 on Friday (exact time subject to change for any number of reasons). This way anyone arriving in the afternoon can still make it.
Teams: If no one objects, I’d like to draw teams randomly as they go off. That adds a little excitement in my opinion. If everyone would rather get paired off according to handicap (best handicap paired with worst, second best with second worst etc) we can do that too, but unless the group objects let’s plan to go with this. (If there are an odd number of people I’ll happily sit out and play exclusively one club challenges by myself and tag along with some random group lol.)
Format: We will be playing 9 holes of greensomes with modified stableford scoring (for no particular reason). This means everyone will tee off on every hole, and then each team will pick a drive and play alternate shot from there. Points for scores are:
Dbl+ -1
Bogey 1
Par 2
Birdie 4
Eagle 7
Albatross 10 (and I will personally buy you a nice beer)
If people want to modify these scores I’m fine with that. Didn’t really base these off anything, and I’m down to switch if people think it will make things more fun.
Extra Twist: Two holes will be one club format (exact holes tbd, will most likely announce on the first tee). You and your partner need to use the same club (or as close as you can get) so there are no shenanigans like “I’ll hit driver as my one club and you can hit wedge”.
Also I forget exactly who mentioned it above, but I’m a big fan of the idea of a “teebox discussion”. If someone asks to take a mulligan and in exchange shotgun a beer or donate to charity and everyone in the group agrees I’m fine with that. Hell even if you all just agree to move your ball out of a divot or into a better lie for nothing in exchange I don’t particularly care. (And for all that is holy this is just for fun, so I hope none of you try to seriously bend the rules just to win, get into serious arguments over anything, or complain if another team does something minor that you didn’t do. )
Prize: Each member of the team with the highest score will win one of the cups I showed above. In the event of a tie we will do a sudden death playoff with all teams tied until we have a winner. I’m also going to get something for the last place team as well, not sure what just yet though.
I’ve got a tentative list of everyone who has expressed interest, but truthfully anyone who wants to play can even if they decide Friday at 1:59 (this is partially why I don’t wanna pair by handicap, it will complicate things if someone joins late). No need to turn anyone away who wants in on the action. If time permits I’d like to have groups tee off the first (or tenth) tee as opposed to a shotgun start type of situation. It also won’t hurt my feelings if anyone doesn’t want to play and would rather just take advantage of the course in the afternoon (I guess it will hurt my feelings if literally everyone bails though lol). Because it’s alt shot and only 9 holes I imagine it will move pretty quickly so there should still be time to sneak some holes in after the fact.
I’m landing in DFW at 813 on Thursday or I would have joined you for that drink as we went opposite directions.
IN.
Add me to the list!
no. I arrive at 11:20 and will be on a golf course within 60 minutes of that.
my struggle is real folks.
What the fuck @TehMe MADE that?!
That is awesome.
He did all the embroidery work, and then I think had someone else do the leather.
The Cincy one is going to be 🤌🤌🤌
(also, anyone else’s 15 year old skate rat self giving them strong side-eye for enjoying embroidered belts this much? just me? cool)
I went to see August Burns Red/ERRA last night and my 15 year old self is positively chuffed right now.
And, no, I’m not FOMOsterbating reading this thread. You are.
I do, and uh, I’m going to be bidding aggressively here.
Do we think an auction is appropriate here? Vs raffle?
Not sure. But seeing as I just bought a ton of raffle tickets to maximize my chances, I vote raffle.
If you don’t use your power for self enrichment what’s it’s really good for?
