Mini meetup? I’m itching to get back to Ozarks.
Yea. Smaller side for sure. Not easy to get to for many.
Some of us had an easy time getting there and a harder time getting home.
Missing this last year had steadily climbed the list of my greatest regrets with each passing day.
We won’t make that mistake again.
Consider me very much in for the 2022 rendition.
Oh boy another event. . . I have a problem with these meet ups. 1 is scheduled probably 2 for next year. Probably can’t make it but u never know.
Ok all - I started some VERY preliminary research into Big Cedar 2022. This research included asking a couple people about it at the Blade Meetup and sending 1 email. So some extensive work done by me.
Bottom line is this - Big Cedar is shifting to a very “Mike Keiser Resort” type model. Meaning - if you want to book in advance, you got to stay on property. Else you can duke it out for times inside 30 days. The demand they are seeing doesn’t give us really any leverage, even with our good friend in the inner circle who very much hooked us up in 2020.
This said - some of the cabins are ready ($2k-$4k/ night due to the fact that not all cabins are done yet and the demand is sky high) and there’s another property (Angler’s Lodge in Hollister) at a better price point (~$200/double occupancy).
From my point of view, the real draw to this is not only the fantastic courses, but the flexibility in lodging which allowed us to get the massive rental houses near Table Rock Lake on the cheap or nearby hotels (they may or may not honor your reservation).
Its a true #shrinkthegame situation developing here.
In summary - I’m a bit luke warm on firing this up again with the booking caveats… but not against it. So feel free to discuss…
Having never been I’d be interested in any option that’s gets a good group there.
I’m in if we can somehow keep the price in a reasonable range but yeah we really need less people playing golfing
Same. Having stayed at Big Cedar before it is… noooooot cheap. Will either be a fairly C-Suite endeavor (especially since most people will have to fly) or a true seat of the pants 30 days out situation. I’d be more inclined to book a refundable hotel room and just cross my fingers on an April weekend myself.
I don’t know if this would help the cost or be against the ethos of the trip but my girlfriend she would happily go if there were other non golfers to do Branson-y stuff
I am extremely out on this, for whatever record.
If this trip works out I will for sure be bringing the fam
So the real problem isn’t just the cost, but the need to pay down on the lodging to get the advance times we’d need. This is a very “Anti-Refuge Meet-up” type arrangement.
I like (most) of you guys, but seeing how a waitlist gets annihilated at these things, not sure if I’m willing to float the cost for y’all!
In 2020 many of us offset the price of the golf itself through cheap(ish) lodging and a crazy good offseason rate. Seems those levers are very much neutered this time around.
I am so fucking cheap, wedges. I’m sorry.
Seems like I should just shift focus to the bidding process for YOTB Two - In the Lou!
@anon3021505 - when are proposals due?
We could look into French Lick I’ve always wanted to check that place out
We got time. But bribes are encouraged.
We can build you a nice Haywood 2iron
