A thread for the Texas folks

Has anyone played Pine Dunes recently? Wondering what kind of shape it’s in. Have heard mixed reviews over the last year on condition of greens and fairways

Just got an email that Dallas County has named golf an essential outdoor activity. We are back baby!

Is this still the case? Trying to get out and play this week somewhere.

Pretty sure all the munis are still closed.

Call the public ( not munis ) courses in Collin Co

How was PD yesterday?

Big time worlds colliding moment on the Trap Draw this week with Bob Sturm being on with Neil and Randy. So good.

oh wow…this will be my listen today

Very random world colliding

I can’t believe they did a podcast with Bob. I’ve been waiting for Bob to have one of the guys on the Ticket but didn’t think it would happen the other way around.

I played Golf Club of Dallas yesterday and it’s in pretty good shape if anyone wants to make that drive down there. Fairways are still kinda brown in spots but greens are pretty good. Firm but pretty good. Range is open and they’re renting carts as well. Just thought I’d pass this along. $40 for 18 w/cart.

Sturm planting the idea of Stevens and Cedar Crest in a Strapped season absolutely tickled my soul.

Open to suggestions about the 3rd course (I’d probably go Old Brickyard or the goat track fka Tenison Glen), but those first two have to be locks

I was hoping Bob would get into the Lee Corso stuff on the pod.

Listened to it today while walking 9 this am. Its really really fun to listen to the worlds colliding and love that @MerchCzar and @Randy know about Scoops!

Guis should not really take his opinions on DFW golf courses…please! One muni would be good…but way better content from other places you get to here. Stevens would be a good one from his list…Ceder Crest as well because of the PGA played there in the '20’s…but dear lord stay away from Grapevine muni

Cedar crest is a must for strapped. Stevens would be nice as well, but after that they need to get outside of the metromess for the last round.
Some quick thoughts

Turtle hill. Muenster
Webb hill. Wolfe city
Squaw valley Glen Rose

They do drive a bit (BR/NOLA, across different cities in Iowa and New England), but they also don’t usually do a metroplex this big.

That did come off as hate for it…didnt mean it that way. What I meant was that if you are going to do a Strapped episode on DFW golf and can pick 3 courses…It just shouldnt even be in the conversation.

Its a solid track but way more history etc at other spots.

Realize this is old… but Ron Herridge up at Conroe CC is pretty well known. He and his assistants run an awesome Jr program and they’ve put a few kids in D1 schools.

Played Split Rail on Wednesday and it was in great shape. Would also be a great Strapped spot if they were willing to make the drive.

I know it’s a little late notice, but does anyone wanna get a round together around 1? Dfw area, I’m down to drive

Anybody want to play in DFW tomorrow (Friday) afternoon? Myself and a buddy are in and were thinking Golf Club of Dallas sometime around 3 or so but were flexible on time and place.
