Yessir. Fan of fine bbq and all things golf. Glad to be here. And coming from California, this place is bliss
Pine Dunes is fine even when dormant since it’s sand based, it plays firm. Added benefit to hackers if the undergrowth hasn’t sprouted is it’s easier play out of the trees in winter.
sign me the FUCK up for this

So do we need to start considering dates?
I’m here to help anyway I can. Never been so excited to make it happen if possible.
I’m in to assist. First off how manny days/rounds?
I’m thinking maybe 54 holes and 2 1/2 days Fri - Sun
I know @bored_6m has looked into this idea before. He might have something to add.
Format: Agreed @FadeToTrap 54 holes, which could allow fourball, foursomes, match play.
Dates: I’d say late spring but before summer (april/may/june).
Organizers: Maybe one rep from each city/area. That person can ask for help from others if needed.
Venue: Pine Dunes seems so ideal in many ways. But it is a mystery: They seem to do a really poor job of marketing/communicating with their customer. Not surprised they could be difficult to deal with. Shame if so.
Opening Ceremonies: Would be a nice touch. Each city can exchange gifts like an international friendly. I am racking my brain to figure out what way to gift a representation of not only Austin traffic, but ppl complaining about Austin traffic.
@bored_6m Can we appoint you as ambassador to the Refuge for a report of what is possible when you go out there?
I like it!
And as @bored_6m has mentioned this does move fast, as I would think those dates are probably getting booked quick.
How many players are we realistically looking at having? Because if we do 12 on each side that’s only 6 tee times & they should have that easy
6-10 per region? 18-30 total?
Initial interest may be larger, but when dates are set things often come up for a few people.
If there is more interest, an internal match play could sort starting spots on roster.
I’ll throw up a google form later and link it in here, let’s see what we come up with.
I think you’d see 40+ people interested easily. It’s probably best to decide how to group it regionally after you see how many people sign up from each region.
Well, I just got on here (first post). Also, it’s good to know who has the handle I tried to sign up. Live in San Antonio. Worked at Muny from 93-2003. Happy to assist the Austin/ SA group in getting their shit together.
Ha! I am very open to a battle royal. Winner takes the handle.
The venue–of course, Muny.
This would be a great feature group at pine dunes on sunday😂
Alright folks. If interested, please fill this out.
I’ll publish the results early next week and share access to the google doc. This will give us a sense of what kind of interest there is per region.
There is an ‘open’ feedback section at end for other notes.
Also, what do we do with people from Waco? #TeamChip
Hey guis!
So, I’m going under the knife on the December 14th to do some ankle repair. It should only put me on the shelf for about 6-7 weeks, but I’m going to get one more round in before it happens. As such, I reserved a 12:01 tee time at Rockwood next Saturday, 12/5. I’ve got a feeler out to @chaser and would love to fill the other two spots with a couple of y’all on here! Let me know if you’re interested!
19 responses so far. Most from DFW area, then ATX/SAT, and only two from Houston.
Pine Dunes is largely consensus if possible. April/May is preference.
No votes for Patrick Reed–publicly or anonymously.
Anthony Kim surprisingly took an early lead as a captain’s pick.
Unsurprising, he has faded like Icarus into the sea…to be overtaken by

Ghost of AK and Golden Boy is a tuff choice for the Dallas folks
If you’re looking to drive Houston participation and Reed isn’t drawing interest, maybe include some of the OG UH boys like Elkington or Nantz, or Monty (HBU I think)
