A thread for the Texas folks

Yeah I like the discount but honestly I feel it’s not much still.

On $100 Henley you save $15, still paying over 90 +tax

Idk just trying to wrap my head around it all.

It’s like anything, $90 to me isn’t worth $90 to someone else, ya know? To most, $350k is insane for a guitar, but here we are in the day and age when joe bonamassa has paid that for not one, but probably at least 10 different '59 les pauls. I feel the content is worth it, and if my $90 goes towards them keeping the overall NLU content going, I’m happy

Oh totally, the value is different for everyone.

Good to know though others here could be invested so I think is something that excites me more.

I’m really knew, only joined for a month, so getting to connect with more next year was a goal.

I lump my spending for The Nest subscription into the same category as I do a few other Patreon subs. Basically just consider it throwing a few bones at a group of folks who create some great stuff that I enjoy. The head cover was a nice bonus + flag to others that I see out and about that we’re part of the same clan, and I’m just now getting into The Refuge, but I’m def sticking around

For me the Nest sub saves me money on the merchandise discount alone so the decision is made just off of that. That doesn’t include the gift (I joined well after last years gift so I’m excited to get the first this year).
The monthly podcast is great as well and something I look forward to.
I don’t go to the Nest events because I’m somewhat shy and that combined with the 90 I’ll shoot scared me away but if you were wanting to partake in those then it seems the Nest early access is almost a requirement and to some the biggest benefit.
Finally these dudes content is just something worth supporting to me

You should come to a local meetup. There are all kinds of shy and loud personalities and several worse golfers than you, myself included.

I should. I need to expand my playing group beyond the 5-6 in it now since I’m more eager to go play than they are.

Also kinda a weird thing for me but what’s the average age? I feel like I’m pretty young compared to yall

In our Dallas meetups it has ranged from recent college grads to folks in their late 30s/early 40s I believe, which is pretty similar to the non-Dallas events I’ve been to.

Yeah that was part of my goal this year as well.

Wouldn’t think handicaps matter much outside of comps but I figured even during meet ups we’d play with them for skins games or anything else?

My take- Nest Sub is 69% of the green fees (CART INCLUDED WALKING NOT ALLOWED) at one of the many overrated Fazio courses you can play in this great country. I will be first time subscriber here shortly.

Texas thread has been great. I think politics/Covid/post-NIT/doxxing (still not sure what that is) things got a little nuts. I slowed my car to peak and happily kept on driving.

A great man once suggested a Ryder Cup event in 2021 for Texas (i.e. DFW vs. ATX/SA vs HOU) at Pine Dunes. And I was that great man (or was it @DuckDuckHook).

Looking forward to 2021.

DFW is ahead of the game with match play.

I would love a rider cup event at pine dunes. A course like that deserves to have a big event like that.

I would definitely be in.

What time of the year would be best? I know in Dallas early to mid spring isn’t great because the greens don’t wake up just yet sometimes.

Coming from someone in the Austin area, this sounds awesome. I’ll be following the details.
