Scummy. @BaxterMSP’s lawyer friend taking food off the table of genuine Refugees.
He paid the event and on course entry fees, same as you.
Plus, I figured you would appreciate a lawyer doing scummy shit
He should’ve gotten himself into the pull tab scam we were running at Bunny’s last night.
I had a blast meeting everyone yesterday, thank you very much @BaxterMSP for organizing the event! It was great to play alongside @bobs219 and @Mystic in the afternoon for their 19-hole thriller. @zhanson38 played great in our match as well, and I hope he can make it to the Ope-in to represent MN in August. Already looking forward to next year!
It was awesome watching you golf your ball my dude. I definitely experienced traj envy multiple times.
Thanks to @Icarito_Jr @CinderellaStory and @kirkeide1 for letting this old gui come along for the ride yesterday. Had a great time.
@MackReiter @munihack7 it was fun playing the par 3 with you yesterday.
@TBuhr33 great work out there, if we ever get paired together in a gross two ball, I think we have something going here
As always, it was great to put faces to internet handles with many of you yesterday. Hope to play with even more of you this season and also look forward to seeing some of you at the Ope’n!
Thanks @BaxterMSP for a wonderful day.
@JT_Sing is too modest to talk about his own 68 where he left multiple shots out there. I believe it tied a personal best. It was an absolute blast to watch.
Wow! Really great day of golf yesterday at Braemer. The two courses, practice facilities and conditions really exceeded my expectations.
Shoutout to @BaxterMSP for putting on a great day of golf, and being a super host at White Bear on Friday. You’re a great friend, and it was great to play with you yet again!
Really great to see @anon47037505 and his personal “evolution” over the past year. You looked great, bud!
I had a blast playing with @Billy_Baroo @Layups4basketball and @LernhardBanger yesterday. Great vibes. Great music. Great shots and great sharing some Surley beers with you three!
Really great to see some great people from events from last year including @rka @MackReiter @NightTrainLane and such. You guis are awesome!
Special shoutouts to @anon3021505 and @Waldorf98 - Thanks Taylor for coming up and introducing yourself. That meant a lot to me. Thanks Dyson for being cool and fun talk to with - just like you were last year in Nebraska.
Overall, I really appreciate everyone I interacted with making me feel welcome and “part of the gang” with everything that happened last year. I was skeptical about coming to the event, but glad I made the decision to make the trip. I know full well that there are still some who shun me for my mistakes and what happened, but I didn’t get that sense from anyone over the weekend. While I may never be fully accepted because of it, I acknowledge and understand the reasons. It’s something I will live with for quite some time.
In the end, I love playing the game, and will gladly play with anyone who wants to give me a chance.
Thanks!
Shoutout to the Edina club hockey team or whoever siphons money from that sweepstakes.
Made it home safely despite the multiple accidents I saw along the way. Sat in Chicago for a good hour alone. 11 hours later…
Not even sure where to begin. Huge shout-out to morning peeps @PaaSco and @NightTrainLane (and also congrats again on the win, these haters can boo from the sidelines all they want) starting the day out with a banger playlist appropriately named big booty mix. Pass it along please, I wanna keep listening to that.
@anon3021505, I know you were on the struggle bus with your swing but I had an absolute blast with ya, both during the championship round and at Gross National. Love playing with someone that has no problem taking and giving some great sarcastic remarks. The fact that I had my best round ever with our leader, the most high Bladiness, is a huge testament to the movement you started. Been having the most fun I’ve ever had playing and actually seeing the shots in my head come out on the course is an incredible feeling. Truly, honestly, thanks for the push to just say fuck it and dive into the madness.
@bobs219 you were the perfect ball of energy that was needed at 630am after a crazy day of golf. Such a great time talking with ya! @kirkeide1 was glad to be aboard that birdie train. Best of luck with that PhD, can’t wait to call ya Doc!
Mentioned multiple times but so fucking jealous of all the great Minnesotans that have regular competitions going. It’s something I wish we had over here. @BaxterMSP, teach me how to corral people. It’s so hard to get people to play an event in this area, let alone actual brackets. Glad I made the trip, super appreciate the effort you put into everything. Will definitely be making a return for NSS3. I heard a lot about Stone Ridge and Keller, possibly future venues…
The committee will take this into consideration.
Current Odds for NSS3 venue:
Hiawatha 1,000,000-1
Keller 50-1
The Quarry & The Wilderness 10-1
StoneRidge 9-1
Bunny’s 5-3
HELL YEAH!
Just wanted to provide a big thank you to the 60+ refugees who turned out for the 2nd Annual North Star Shootout! I would say it certainly was a success and seeing everyone enjoying themselves certainly makes the work going into it worthwhile. Couple of things I want to call out:
-
Braemar was a great venue for an “almost” all day affair. Huge piece of property, beer cart with a credit card machine, and very nice staff. I loved the pin placements on #15 and 16; this was a competition so why would we have easy pins?
-
Thanks to all of you who generously donated to the raffle. Those donations made the charity element of the event successful, which I’ll get to below. @tj_denawli thanks for lining up the brewery on Friday night. That was a ton of fun and your brother was an awesome tour guide through the inner workings.
-
@Art.Vandelay gets special praise for donating a great prize packaged. Art has some great stuff on http://www.thenorthgolf.com/ so check it out fellas!
-
It flew under the radar compared to the gross event, but @Mystic and @C_MackDaddy were the final two standing after a 64 man season long match play tourney. Awesome work fellas! I know Mystic will be in Lawsonia but C_Mack has a family obligation. Here’s hoping that @zhanson38 is able to step in and take up the mantle.
-
@Tron we appreciate you making the effort to join the MN contingent this past weekend. I think this kind of turn out makes it easy to see why we believe the MN crew is the strongest on the Refuge. Also, thanks for the pro shop donations and tee gifts. It was great putting a little something on everybody’s cart before the day started. Promise more presses will be played next year.
-
@JScore thanks for imploding on 18 and saving me from losing more money.
-
@HawksInWI for winning closest to the pin and being a half inch from an ace. I’m still not sure how that stayed out of the cup. Perhaps his most impressive move of the weekend was after I sent his contest winnings via Venmo and he immediately sent back a portion, asking it be included in the donation to charity. A true #classact

Finally, thanks to all who participated in the raffle. Yesterday I sent a payment for $2,850 to Haven Housing to help with their support of women and children in need of transitional assistance. Getting together like a bunch of golf psychos actually does make a difference in people’s lives.
Now, we’re on to Lawsonia for The Midwest “Ope-in” *presented by Culver’s
tl;dr The 2nd Annual NSS was fun
You’re the best, teeps. Looking forward to hanging out again at the blade meetup.
Slight oversight on the recap….
Congrats to the gross event winners @NightTrainLane and @MNLefty!!! Represent the NSS crew well in Jax Beach.
Dramatization of the scene of the second shot from way right:
Listen, for us, I have no problem with those pins.
For a Saturday at a facility that runs people through from sunrise to sunset… I have questions…
