Lot of cities in the area actually have bans on AirBnb/Vrbo so that’s why you’re not seeing much. If you’re looking for a reasonable hotel near the course, then I would recommend where the US team stayed for the Ryder Cup:
If you’re looking to splurge on a baller place (still less than $200 a night) and don’t mind a 15-20 min car ride to the course then check out the new hotel at the Vikings complex. The bar/restaurant in there are top notch:

I’m sure that’s part of it. Also lobbied by residents because of issues with party houses and a bunch of additional traffic

VRBO has a decent amount of spots to stay
Come on down to the North Loop area. Very fun part of the city with lots of food/drink spots. I’ve lived down there for the last 6 years and its a great spot. Easy to get down to Braemar from there and it isn’t far from Falling Knife for the Friday night festivities.
