Folks –

I wanted to take a break from watching card tricks on YouTube shorts to say how much all of us enjoyed the NIT this year and thank everyone involved for making it our best one yet. A massive congrats to @LaneRock19 and his weapon of a 9-wood for joining the illustrious list of champions. If you told me before the week that a ā€œLaneā€ had won the NIT, I would have been terrified we were living in a world where @NightTrainLane had a lifetime exemption.

A few housekeeping things:

  • Thank you, of course, to @Privatecollection, through whom all things are possible (as well as Kelly and Jordan behind the scenes). Thank you to Dobson Ranch for an elite setting and to all the sponsors who donated prizes. As Soly said, I’m confident there is nowhere in golf where mediocrity is more handsomely rewarded than in the ā€œAverage Joeā€ and ā€œServProā€ presentations.

  • We were grateful to have Jeff Marsh out there taking photos. He got a ton of great stuff, all of which is available to download here and use how you like (PW: RANCHDOBSON). https://gallery.jeffmarsh.com/guestlogin/2025nit/?return=%2F2025nit%2F

  • Finally, we’re also very pumped to announce that through mystery boxes, a historic art sale and our other fundraisers, we were able to raise a total of $12,420 for the Evans Scholars Foundation this weekend. Coupled with our other NLU events, fundraisers and community donations, this puts us at nearly $165,000 for this year. And that’s just for ESF and is not even inclusive of all the other giving done by Roosts who have raised money for tons of local causes through their numerous events.

I’m in absolute awe of those numbers, although I shouldn’t be because each event like this weekend’s is a reminder of the kind of people that make up our community. It’s been six years since we started doing this event and there’s been a lot of change, but the fact remains that there are no bad seats at dinner and nothing but fun times on the golf course. That’s hard to find (in golf or elsewhere) and its why we’re so thankful to all the people who show up with a great attitude and help make this event a highlight of the year.

Until next year!

Team NLU

If any of you are going to post any of Jeff’s photos on your personal IG’s, make sure to tag him there too - @Jeffkmarsh is his handle there

Thanks to everyone who came out to the 6th(!!!) NIT - I think it was our best one yet. I hope you mystery box winners enjoyed both the goofy and awesome items in those boxes. I always have a great time putting them together.

I am also still in awe of how many ā€œpersonal bestsā€ everyone shot at Dobson!! Heck yes!!

Also, special shout-out to @FlorencePuttingale - I’m so glad we ended up in the same part of the party flight to get paired together on Saturday AM. It’s always awesome to have more gals at our events. Had a blast riding around and smashing drives with you.

…of how @Tron’s drive on 13 ended up about 100 yds left of the tee box. I believe he still made par though.

I was surprised he didn’t try to cut across the houses.

I say this a lot but I mean it, this wild group of people changed my life. These events are a blast. Already started planning my travel for next year’s roost events. I have a stretch goal of at some point being able to say I’ve played in every existing roosts major. Meeting people from all over the country that share this passion is truly invigorating stuff.

Major thank you to @Privatecollection for all that you do. It’s astounds me how well you are able to think of little touches that make this event better than any other.

I agree with this so much! Playing in roost events and now the NIT has reignited my enjoyment in the social part of golf that had been missing for many years, essentially playing as a single. For too long my score dictated my happiness, now the hang is far more important than numbers on the card!

I can’t wait to use all the Catan data you shared with me to crush my family next time we play.

Get that natty :crown:

Can someone explain the NIT related posts on the NLU Reddit? Is this an in-joke that those of us who weren’t there won’t get?

I had to go fire up Reddit to take a look. Seems like people did the classic Reddit trick of making a bunch of dumbass parody posts of the original. Original though is just a shitpost about Tron choking someone from the HCC out. All in all seems like a bunch of poor effort posts (the Refuge would never).

The only person who choked was me. All is well

I choked on my Shirley Temple during the magic show! Thought for a minute that maybe the ace of hearts was about to come out of my mouth. Lolol

Why didn’t I think of using my credit on Shirley temples? I stay catching L’s

I don’t even need to play golf, I just want to attend the NIT again to see the magic show.
