I feel fairly sure that the final round of the men’s in 2022 ( in benign conditions) was played in a little over four hours. The women are painfully slow
Agreed, the women seem to play slower, but when the men were playing in groups of three, they also had terrible pace of play issue in 2022.
It was blowing a consistent 25-30 mph on the loop of 7-13, with gusts over 40. That is why pace of play was an issue, not the women playing slower than the men.
Can Ji-Yai be the exception to that? Because Yikes!
Men: FARgiveness
Women: weather conditions (plus whatever was happening on #5)
Got it, that makes sense.
I would obviously defer to your opinion on this, but I would say this isn’t entirely an excuse for pace of play to grind to a halt.
While balls weren’t rolling on the green, they were still oscillating at times, and so players are having to wait and remark. And it just takes time when whole groups are making bogeys
Yeah, if the balls are oscillating, that’s tough, truly a “I don’t know what to do with my hands” situation.
Exactly. You can’t touch it if it’s moving but when it’s the most exposed part of the golf course there’s not much you can do but wait it out. Also on Friday, all 3 people in my group while taking practice swings on 12 tee had our balls fall off the tee from the wind.
We get lots of wind here and it’s really unsettling being buffetted by wind that moves your body in your backswing. Think touching tree limbs in backswing feels. Not fun when it’s really blowing.
I took for granted how nice being totally balanced over swings and putts is when golfing.
Geoff Shackelford said the reason the pin on 11 barely moved all week was because that’s the only part of the green where balls would stay still in the conditions
Which is crazy because the greens were supposedly quite shaggy.
They were extremely shaggy, they were 9.4 on the stimp.
Yeah, nutty swing, I just liked her smile. Then listening to the pod afterwards I heard she’s a huge slow play culprit and that Lilia was over it.
Outed myself as an LPGA fan to my sales team today. Reaction went about as bad as I expected.
Please expand on this. I want to hear the story.
My guess - Sales guys are Barstool Bro dickheads.
Cody did not. Above my pay grade
My man…I would argue it should be below your proper pay grade! Kudos to you and Big this weekend. Radio feed was stellar.
I know it’s a week after the major, but wanted to shout out my 17 year niece who won the Monday qualifier to get into the FM Global tourney this weekend at TPC Boston. For those of you in attendance, please look out for her. I am planning to be there on Friday. Let’s hope she gets paired with @LPondgolf
