I had a partner/teammate who has gone on to be a regular finance/stock guy that FoxBusiness, CNBC, and some other finance/stock media have on occasionally. Fucking big brain. I was the muscle and research, he was the maestro and politician.
We won multiple events in our region and were given a spot on the SC that year at NAIMUN. It was wild. We met with staff at the Colombian embassy who briefed us on their most current policy and helped us get our positions in shape to represent them. During the conference they called us up at like 1am one night with an emergency âcrisisâ. That may have been the wildest scenario. They had a Colombian commercial passenger plane that was leaving Cuba for Colombia blowup. The Cubans blamed US warships. The Cubans and Americans were in a military standoff. Turned out it was a terrorist attack by FLQ, a French-Canadian terrorist org. The debates that ensued were comical and the scramble to save face by the different parties was golden. Good times.
