We plan on setting up Roost specific groups/threads here in the Refuge for bulletin boards, Roost chatter, and shit talking. We also want to be inclusive vs. exclusive. Work to be done on this front but hoping to have it figured out by Mid-January with Captains.
Pinz will help track competitive element of Roosts virtually. We are hoping to have Pinz Dashboards embedded in Roost groups on the Refuge (or on Roost web pages) that make viewing leaderboards easier, but this is a Q2 priority.
We also want Roosts to be geared toward competition. Like it or not, GHIN is the default place to start since the majority of avid golfers and the majority of our Nest members have a handicap through that system. We are working with Pinz to figure out UK/GBI integration (cc @Wabinez), which is more complicated than it seems. Some of this will take time, and we wonāt have it all figured out on January 1st, but we like the pace and direction with which Pinz is developing their app specifically for this community.
Thanks for taking the time to write out a detailed reply which I think perfectly answers any of the questions/concerns I had about it. Most of which others here had already set me straight on anyway.
I know you guys have a lot on your plate trying to make this a reality and as equitable as possible. As someone who was just talking to my wife about wanting to play more competitive golf, it sounds like Iāve picked the exact right time to join the Nest so I can be part of a Roost.
Donāt envy PINZ job there as we work out handicap allowances completely different for competitions too.
We arenāt going anywhere thoughā¦and if any roosticles make their way across the pond then our raft of members will always try and help host for a game even if non-competitive.
