2024 NLU Summer Festival: August 26th @ Colorado Golf Club

I would not plan on relying on Uber to get around Parker.

I would be happy to pick up people on the way to the course Monday, but I will probably need to jet after the festivities end. So you’d probably be on your own for getting back to the hotel.

Castle Pines was a course very much of its time. It was a Nicklaus built in 1981 for an Augusta member who wanted his own ANGC in the Colorado foothills. He more or less got it, in terms of exclusivity and conditioning, but with Jack’s design styling, which was at least de rigeur at the time.

They’ve really only doubled (and tripled and quadrupled down) on the excesses of that design ever since. I think golf architecture should be a big world and it would be stupid if Castle Pines had in 2019 suddenly tried to remodel their course to look like so many modern courses do with frilly edged bunkers and free form tees or whatever. That’s not their vibe and that’s fine. At the same time, I always appreciated the more rustic front nine, especially the early holes with the wash running through them. Instead it feels like everything is just more artificial mounding, more fake lakes.

In my memory, they have added or expanded water features on 2, 3, 11, 14, 16, and 17. Many of those include waterfalls. Are they just going to keep going until every hole has a waterfall?

Folks, you can stop butchering your handicaps because I’ve locked them in!

Also, be on the lookout for your BMW tickets early next week.

Do we need to adjust/pick our tees? I’ve been out of pocket the last week.

Everyone asking about tees, format, etc. etc. please read the amazing event info created by @Privatecollection

I was under the impression this was a gross competition.

I’m fine with my cap locked in here…. Just don’t expect me to play to it at this moment fellas.

Tees based on cap?!? But I’m a short hitter :joy:

Haven’t maximized that LAB Broom yet

Just snuck under the 11.5 hcp cutoff with my 11.2 hcp.

I’m thinking driver, driver off the deck, another driver off the deck and a comfy two putt to start the day.

It might not make the trip. Can’t play bad and play with a broom lmao

Last minute addition to the event via the waitlist and couldn’t be more pumped.

Do want to make a suggestion to anyone leaving Castle Pines or even after CGC Monday to check out La Loma mexican restaurant in Castle Rock (like 20 minutes from CGC and 15 from Castle Pines). Sooooooo good.

Paintbrush tee 6900 yard sea level equivalent would be around 6400-6500 yard

Lets put this ball goes to far concept to the test. Who’s taking it back to 8,000 yards with me? @RyMo is in
