If you don’t break par at IR or HW, you can always do a 5th year!

I like breaking 80 on a number of different courses. May borrow that one.

My main goal is to break 80. We also had a baby this past September so I’m hoping to play at least every 2 weeks and have a goal of 25 rounds next year.

Nothing better than a victory lap in Oxford.

2020 - recommitted myself to golf and played 30+ rounds for the first time since 2008.

2021 - Break 80 again. Have done it about a dozen times, but not in over 10 years (39 y/o now). Driver accuracy needs improvement as does chipping. Continuing playing with my boys (11 and 9) and hoping they continue to enjoy the game more and more each year.

My golf goals for 2021

  1. Get my handicap into single digits. (I haven’t had an “official” handicap before this year, but I used the “Hole 19” app this last year, which put my handicap in the 11-12 range.)
  2. Play at least 3 rounds with refugees around the US. (I should be in Chicago for part of the summer, other plans will be regulated by COVID.)
  3. Engage in actual golf practice with a plan at least 3 days per week.

I can definitely relate to all the mental/attitude focused goals.
93% of the time things are all good in my head, even when I am not playing great.
But my 2021 goal is when the doubts do start taking hold I stay positive and take the long view.

For me 2021 is the year of K.I.S.S. (Keep it simple stupid)

  1. Become more physically and mentally golf fit.
  2. Develop and use a pre-shot routine.
  3. Increase swing speed i.e. hit :bomb:.
  4. Enjoy the walk, smell the roses and focus on how amazing golf is and how lucky I am to be able to play the game.
  5. Tinker with equipment and balls less.

  2. Get handicap below 5 (8.7 now) (1 is dependent on 2)
  3. 90% makes on 5 ft and in putts
  4. Avoid blow up holes!! (I typically have a triple or snowman once a round)
  5. 60% GIR
  6. Play pinehurst #2

this is a great goal to set. just be careful with expectations…PGA Tour average from 5 feet is 75%… 4 feet is 86%…3 ft is 95%

i’m not saying you can’t be the greatest putter in the world. i’m only saying that ‘realistically’, you have an uphill climb and it’s going to need to be a full time job.

I was going to type something very similar. In the end, the real way to achieve the goal is to just have a bunch of tap ins and few 5 footers. It doesn’t really address how good their putting, approaches or scrambling are.

It has more to do with the lack of putts I have inside 5 ft that aren’t tap ins from lags lol

based on your handle…I would focus on lag putting proximity and dialing in 3-4 footers. wedging it closer can’t hurt either.

good luck friend!

Works for me!

Thanks for the advice. Been laggin for years but can always step it up.
