YOTB Presents: The Blade Challenge

I got this set together for a nesticle who had to back out. If you’d like this eclectic set, each a different 60s - 70s club. Let me know. $75 to your door. Priority mail. 3-PW

This would probably get a little more traction in the real YOTB thread, my friend!

Yep. Sorry.

Absolutely no problem, just trying to help you get the word out.

Gave it a go last night, and came up a bit short of my Bladey Seventy goal (just doesn’t have the same ring to it, does it?).

My set is just a 4 iron down since I have a driving iron, 3 wood, and driver that have to get pulled out. The course is 6450, and it had just rained so the ball wasn’t running out like it normally does. Regardless, wanted to give it a go.

Missed a 10 footer for birdie on 1 after a nicely flighted 7 iron. Good 2-putt on 2.

Then this on 3.

Not to get all r/golf on you guise, but Jfc this was so close to going in. I was playing by myself with no one else in sight, so maybe thank god it didn’t go in?

-1 thru 3.

Standard par on 4, then a poor layup on 5 led to a bogey. Stuffed one on 7 and rolled in a 4 footer to get back to -1. Easy pars on 8 and 9 and I’m out in 35.

Poor tee shot on 10 (good chance for birdie if I hit the fairway) and a bad pitch shot leads to another bogey. Stuffed another wedge on the par five 11th to get back to -1.

Scrambled my ass off on 12-14, and couldn’t get birdie putts to fall on 15-17 from around 18-20 feet on each hole.

Needing to hole a 5 iron on 18 from 200 yards uphill, the club slipped in my hand (gloves all soaked) and I ended up making a tough bogey to shoot 72.

We’ll give it another go soon. Gave me a lot of confidence with my ballstriking to come that close just hitting my 4 iron off the tee all day.

@anon3021505 - you can hold onto that stunner for at least a little while longer.

If it goes in, it’s in, regardless of if anybody’s around  . Hell of a round either way.

Good god. Well done, man. I think you may get a stunner anyway, but well done.

Forgot to post it on Monday due to work travels but attempted the first Blady Eighty with the new Miura’s and by god I almost Lexi Thompson’d it away.

Local small muni playing 5800 from the tips and shot 89. Was at 74 on 16 tee and proceeded to go double, bogey, bogey to finish at 89. Felt good to manage a course and have shots at par all the time. On a sad note my handicap went up with this round from a 18.4 to a 19.1 :woman_shrugging:

A little warm up 9 for my first bladey 80 attempt coming this Sunday

Need to clean up the short game a bit lipped out a couple putts and a couple really poor chip shots

Might give the knifey ninety ago tomorrow (as someone who hasn’t broken 90 with full clubs under 100 is a more realistic goal, have we figured out a good name for that yet?). The big right miss with the driver has been catastrophic lately

I dig it, I’m also pretty sure I liked this post but couldn’t remember if there was a name

Yesterday I completed the Stinky 85

And today, I put the Callaway Apex Pros in the bag.

I’ll be back, but I don’t have 16 sets of clubs for nothing.

I went looking hard for my 765s the other day and realized I let a buddy borrow them that’s waiting in his Wilson Staff blades to get here…then I fired consecutive 77s. One of the rounds I had 3 doubles.

Golf is a stupid game.

Gentleman, as someone who hasn’t broken 90 with a full bag, I feel like the knifey ninety is completely within reach. Shot a 93 losing a couple shots on a couple uncommitted tee shots. Had 14 putts for par or better, although most were from probably 20+ feet and missed the two shortish birdie chances I had. Need to get myself a few more closer looks at par or better and we’re in business.

Took on the Bladey 80 challenge yesterday with the look good play good approach (https://refuge.nolayingup.com/t/the-outfit-is-fine-find-a-new-slant-outfit-scripting-thread/) and boy was it an experience. Truly an exposé of ones ball striking ability of which mine is very inconsistent to say the least. Also I am middling 13 hdcp and have never broken 80 with a full bag so this was naturally going to well with only the MP-68’s, wedges and putter. "Narrator: It did not go well."

41-51 was tough. I’m definitely not dying to do this again anytime soon but reminded me of how important wedge play is because mine was truly dreadful (see the triple and quad) and made me respect a course that I usually attempt bully with drivers and 3 woods. Also mishitting a 3iron off the tee and it only going like 160yards and still in play was sick.

I might give it another run in a month or two but regardless Blade on people. This is the way.

Lol, I went 50-43 this afternoon in my attempt.

But also putting was my extreme problem. 40 putts with 5 3-putts. Not great, Bob!

Literally 3 straight 77s

Make it to 7 then play the lottery.
