In the journal it asks if you read before bed, but also if it is a “non screen device”. Does this nook paper white qualify? Im confused on how to answer THE MACHINE

Any help is greatly appreciated and I wish you all high strain and balanced recoveries.

I’d classify it as non-screen reading. eInk is pretty nifty.

I count my kindle paper white as non-screen reading. iPad or phone, not so much (even if using the Kindle app).

I think the idea behind that question is geared toward if you read a book on a device that emits a lot of blue light (iPad, etc). I think you should be good.

Anybody use the bicep strap? I got some truly wonky readings via my wrist strap today (was driving for work and got an HR>200, which, you know, I think I would have noticed, then a few hours later got an HR reading near 190, which, again, pretty sure I would have noticed), and a quick Internet search seemed to suggest that the solution might lie in switching to the bicep strap. I’m wondering if it’s worth it for the coming golf season, as the same search revealed it sometimes comes loose for some folks during a round.

I’ve used it the whole time.

If you do some digging in this thread there is a decent group of us who have had “problems” with it on the wrist. Bicep strap has fixed all the weird things for me and others.

Agreed. All in on bicep band.

In case anyone is curious. Had Moderna Vaccine #1 on Thursday. Felt fine for 24 hrs other than sore arm. About 28 hrs after vaccine felt like i got hit by a truck. Headache, body aches, chills. Slept like crap last night with 10 disturbances and had a low recovery despite doing everything right. Woke up this morning with a bad headache still. This appears to be typical of Moderna. Definitely not looking forward to round #2 since that has knocked everyone on their ass.

So… I’ve heard with both second doses to prep that day with Tylenol. Both before and after the vaccine and I heard it helps a ton.

Edit: removed Advil.

Regrets the error

Anything you do to dampen the immune response that your body is having after the vaccine is probably not a good idea since that’s the whole point of the vaccine.

I don’t know the physiology… but i usually just let it run its course. My headache has been so bad that I finally took some pain reliever for it a few hours ago. Barely had an impact.

Just passing on some info a few nurses/doctors have told me.

And I texted them and stand corrected they recommend Tylenol. Which shouldn’t alter any immune response.

Had second dose of moderna on Thursday. Felt terrible Friday, recover was 10% and HRV way down, RHR way up and respiratory rate was way out of normal range. Pretty much back to normal today however

Tylenol doesn’t affect the immune response.

It just helps with the aches.

See below. Edited so others don’t stop reading at this point.

My wife is a doctor whose job includes giving kids vaccines. I’ll stick with her advice.

I take back what I said. In children, it does seem to slightly dull the effectiveness of vaccines. (That’s one of several similar links.) Adult vaccinations aren’t super common, so there’s not much out there on them.

In a study published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Virology
, researchers found nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen can reduce the production of antibodies and affect other aspects of the immune response to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

So, I was wrong, and I’d err on the side of sucking it up and tolerating the pain. Even afterward, if you can put up with it.

@serwin, join me on the other side of this one. I think we got it wrong initially.

Yeah seems like a mix of information. I know they prefer you not give kids anything cause it could potentially hide fevers caused by vaccines (at least that’s what they told us when my daughter got hers last week)

Do what makes you comfy.

I planned on Tylenol prep when my time for vaccine comes. I ain’t out here trying to win pain awards.

And just like that… after 11 days… I’m returning my Whoop and canceling my 6 month. I’ve had connectivity issues the last 24 hrs (read: connects for 2 seconds, disconnects…repeat since Noon yesterday). I’ve done all the reading up on how to “fix” this, but I am definitely not alone with this problem.

If I’m going to pay $30 per month, I want to spend zero minutes trouble shooting. Yes, the data was fantastic. But i can make due with lesser fitness trackers that cost a fraction of the price and have better software/hardware.

It was fun while it lasted, but after the past 24 hrs I don’t want to wait another 19 days and be pissed about being trapped in the contract.

Catch you in the other threads…
