Anyone happen to know if I do 6mo (month to month) is the 15% off the first month or every month?
Guise - Iām a month in and I think I swear by this thing now. I woke up today and was shocked to see a 97% recovery. I didnāt have a ton of energy and it just felt like one of those lazy Sundays where I watched a lot of TV and maybe went for a walk in the afternoon.
After an hour of near max cardio, Iām sitting at a 16+ strain with some energy left in the tank. The coaching functionality, while simple, is really helping me push myself and see accelerated progress.
Now I just hope that they donāt have to shut down my gym for another three month stintā¦
I need to know what youāre doing for the hour of near max cardio
Pulled the trigger on a Whoop Band using the NLU promo discount. Canāt wait to try this out! Any advice for first-time users?
Mentally prepare yourself for the worlds most difficult task that is opening the clasp on the band for the first time. If I didnāt read an article that it often is very difficult to open the first time I would have assumed the thing was broken.
Iām about a month in, and a few things Iāve made a habit of doing:
-
Stick with it. As others have said, it takes a couple of weeks for it to learn your habits. Iām naturally skeptical about opaque metrics (How do they actually calculate recovery? Is this all BS?), but Iāve come to trust that it somehow has a read on me.
-
Use the journal features. You get some good data on this in the monthly reports which could help you identify new habits to improve recovery (and therefore strain/perfomance).
-
Aim for peak sleep. This is super ambitious, especially after tough workouts. But at least trying for 100% lets me get close enough to feel decent the next day.
-
Try to meet the optimal level of strain. This isnāt always possible because life gets in the way. But as I noted above, it has really helped me push through soreness and mental barriers.
I just jumped in today to try out 6 months and see how I like it and Iāll go from there. Looking forward to joining the group.
Is it possible to use a friends referral code for a free month AND the NLU 15% discount? Or is it one or the other?
How long did you commit?
- 6 months
- 12 months
- 18 months

i think itās 1 or the other. But you can do the 6, but itās actually 5 with the referral, then if you want to keep it, you can renew a year or 18 months with the 15% promo code.
edit: shameless referral plug:

Only 12 votes as I write this but are that few people really going 18 months? I have yet to pull the trigger but really considering just going all in on the 18 months. The monthly difference seems to outweigh the upfront cost, granted I can run 50% of it through our corporate well-being subsidy.
Ultimately,
- Iām curious if that many people are uncertain about their long term commitment to it?
- If not, what made you not choose a longer plan?
So my thoughts; itās a service. Stuff changes so quickly to commit 18 months to a service is crazy. What will happen if Apple buys them? Or Google? Etc. what happens if thereās strap 4.0? A lot of moving pieces.
But you are correct; price alone 18 month is the best.
Amen. Felt dumb watching a video but feel better now
I am doing month to month from the start.
Appreciate the feedback. And I agree, it is a service. Which is why the monthly sub model never bothered me all that much. Which also means, I would except future upgrades to be mainly software and accessible.
But youāre right a lot could change in 18 months and there likely will be some major hardware updates between now and then, especially given their current growth.
No problem. I struggled with 12 vs 6. I went with 6 with a referral and will reassess after that.
For the guys who have been using it for awhile, when they upgrade the hardware do you get to swap for free?
Since the band is āfreeā, which is obv BS, when they come out with the 4 will all of us with the 3 get to upgrade at no cost?
Iāve heard if they update the strap they send you new one if youāve been in for a year
I just bought mine yesterday, so this does help for when it shows up.
Anyone know how it affects your readings if you move it from bicep to wrist and back? Or if this is a bad idea?
There are some things I would like to have it on the wrist for and some things I would prefer it was on the bicep.
