its time for everyone to show their terrible whoop tan lines

Didn’t have the best sleep this week with a lot of early wakeups, but pretty proud of being this consistent with going to bed, don’t know if I’ve ever had it that consistent before

Very first world complaint here, but does anyone else’s Whoop app spam them every 15-20 minutes with a notification once your battery gets below 20%? I plugged my battery pack in to charge 30-45 minutes ago and have been notified 3 times.

Yeah I thinks that a bug.

Mine would notify at 20, there roughly every 5% after. Recently it freaks out when I drop to 20.

Another fun bug is when you try to dismiss any notification (at least on Android) it opens up the app every time.

Hey, does anyone have any extra 4.0 straps they would be willing to sell?

Thread has been pretty quiet lately so curious

Mines up in January, I’ve had it for just over 2 years and I think I’m done with it. It’s been great but I’m kinda tired of wearing it/charging it and it kinda just tells me what I already know now. Plus it’s absolutely useless in terms of weightlifting. I can do squats and Oly lifts until I can’t walk and it will act like I barely moved

Pretty similar for me. It did a great job for me for 2 years but I’ve learned what I need to. I don’t utilize it or even check it like once did. I’m better than I was health wise and Whoop played a big part in that but it’s time to move on.

I’m honestly undecided. Thinking of getting a Garmin watch. The cheapest model is similar in price to a Whoop subscription. Also would measure HRV, RHR, sleep, and ā€œstressā€. Plus, would have the watch functionality which obviously Whoop doesn’t have.

The biggest benefit to me at this point is the silent alarm. I get up for work an hour before my wife, so I probably just need to look into a silent alarm at this point. Lol

I’m leaning towards this as well. The only difference would be not wearing it during golf but I don’t really care about my strain etc while golfing.

Looking at the Fenix 6

I’m in the camp as most here. I’m wondering the long term business model. The data given is incredible but it’s only going to get easier/cheaper to get over time. My employer pays for mine through HSA contribution so unless something changes I guess I’ll keep.

I do a lot of cardio so going to stick it out. Plus it’s one the few trackers I can wear while boxing

I can’t believe I just figured this out, but hearing about @MerchCzar’s 10 strain challenge, I played around with the strain coach and I can get an estimated daily strain from dialing up a particular activity strain. I was able to push during a Peloton ride to get to my goal.

I wouldn’t have thought of it if I hadn’t walked into a 5 day streak while on a woodsy vacation last week. Hoping to do all of Sept!

What do you mean dial a certain activity strain? I’m always surprised my 30 minute peloton rides aren’t more strenuous.

When you start an activity and the white Strain Coach tab comes up, you can slide that up and the strain circle appears. You can move the dial up or down on the strain circle and it will give you an estimate of how that strain will affect your daily total.

So this evening I was able to see I’d need a 5.6 strain to get to 10 for the day. So I did a walk-run treadmill class to hit that in 15 min.

Been dabbling with the Whoop for about a week now, and want to talk about my experiences but mostly curious about the experience of people who have continued to use it. My experience so far (as a 32 year old): I need more sleep and my body doesn’t recover well… but like, isn’t this true for every middle age adult with a family and job etc? Do I need to pay $30 a month to be told I should sleep 8-10 hours? Even if I wanted to, I don’t think I could stay asleep for 9.5 hours… So my question is, what else is this supposed to offer me?

Okay. 32 is not middle aged. 45-65 is middle aged.

Now that we have that out of the way, I’ll say it mostly just affirms things you already suspect or know/believe. But I have gotten a few interesting things from it.

I’ve got 797 recoveries logged now.

Certain types of alcohol for example have different impacts on my stats. Tequila without additives in it almost never negatively impacts my recovery.

It also has helped give me early warnings for illness/health issues so start hammering Zicam and Emergen-C and what not for colds.

I also find in general the convenience of the HRM and ā€œstrainā€ to be useful enough for me during workouts and running – when I do those things anyway.

The average American male lifespan is 78 years. Ill concede that 38-42 is more middle age… 65?! Thats OLD.

The alcohol thing makes sense, sugars would be the biggest impact on recovery.

I am just having a hard time coming to understand how this thing is telling me I need almost 10 hours of sleep when I physically couldn’t stay asleep that long no matter how hard I tried.
