5.9 strain today doing nothing other than driving a rattle-ass cargo van from El Paso to Ft. Worth.

I either need to get a bicep band or just give it up completely.

I have had both a Whoop and Oura Ring for over 2 years now. I had the Oura ring first at and actually haven’t used it in a year or so. It’s pretty uncomfortable to wear working out due to the design if the ring.

The results each give are very different too. You can get a baseline which each one but there isn’t really a translation between a Whoop recovery and Oura Ring recovery

Super interesting. I had always thought I’d buy an oura ring if I was looking for something to supplement my Apple Watch, but maybe I’ll reconsider.

I usually get ~5 strain just living. Granted I’m attempted to keep a smaller human alive most the time; but none the less I don’t think I’ve finished a day <5.

Anyone want a Whoop membership through 10/1 and two straps (black and grey)? I’m not going to renew, so you can have the rest of this annual membership to trial on your own. Just would like to cover the cost of shipping or could do a meetup in the Seattle area.

Anyone find the Whoop strain is strange for Peloton? I routinely hit 12 on ~45 minute runs, but I rarely hit 10 on the Peloton despite good outputs and sweating like a maniac. The Whoop also suggests I burn 50% less calories than PTON does.

Not Peleton but calorie related…I did 155 flights of stairs at the gym for half an hour this morning, and my Whoop told me I burned just over 300 calories, about half the calories that the heart rate monitor on the stairs machine gives me…same result when I do the elliptical…I figure it is likely somewhere in between.

So I normally ride outside and did my sisters peleton. Here’s the outside vs peleton ride. Find the numbers pretty close.

I’ll take it. Been wanting to try it out.

Its well known that ALL optical heart rate monitors are shit for outdoor biking.

I wear a wahoo tickr as well. The numbers between the tickr, Apple Watch, and whoop are pretty close, maybe within 10% or so. Good enough a weekend warrior like me isn’t going to notice.

Calories is a gamble. Wahoo says one thing, Strava another, Apple another, and whoop. That all comes down to their calculations of ā€œcalories burnedā€.

The Whoop isn’t prefect but if you log stuff well and workout pretty regularly it can give some cool insights. And the market for what they make is slim and no one is running away with it. Is it worth the monthly fee? YMMV but for me it’s pretty cool and sublimates my gym membership.

Was very interested in this suggestion whoop gave me. I’ve taken melatonin a few nights a week an hour before I go to bed, really when I remember to. I didn’t feel like it helped me sleep more or I woke up feeling more rested, but the app and its data seems to suggest otherwise. Said it did the inverse for my HRV, it raised it a %

Woke up this morning and a notification on my phone said my whoop missed out on over 3 hours of data. Note, I charged it fully yesterday afternoon. Was very strange, but I just let it spin and try to catch up. After 15 minutes, I was adjusting my whoop and noticed the green HR sensor light wasn’t on, I tried tapping it, nothing.
Whoop support said my whoop had likely died, and the hardware team would reach out to me, didn’t say when, with a resolution. I was just wondering if this had happened to anyone else? Annoying that now its just sitting here doing nothing.

Blayne Barber posted his stats and I am now feeling even more out of shape.

Another round of funding for WHOOP was announced today. $200M raised, which puts the company value at $3.6B: https://www.whoop.com/thelocker/200-million-financing-3-6-billion-valuation/
