I’m not really alarmed at the rate as much as I am how much higher it is than everyone else in my groups. Meaning, a lot of people’s rates seem astonishingly low, and I’m wondering if that’s more of a Whoop measurement thing than the reality. But separate from that, if mine is clearly higher then there may be an issue.

My resting heart rate average over the last week is 73 :grimacing:

Just got my whoop a couple days ago and had a quick question. Should I be logging workouts and sleep or should I just use the auto-detect feature for all activities?

olympic athletes can be as high as 350-400ms. Mine hovers around 110ms but varies +/- 50% based on recovery and activities. My resting heart rate has always been low too at around 45bpm. My doc was worried about it but I’m fine apparently… :crossed_fingers:

uhhhh… I am not an 18yo athlete… lol

I’m only about a month in, but I’ve really liked logging everything – as you go on it’ll start to compare apples to apples (ā€œHere’s how this run compared to other runsā€ or ā€œhere’s where your heart rate range was during this round of golf vs. your normal round of golf.ā€ And I think it can track a bit more about your sleep if you’re actually logging stuff (how long it takes to fall asleep and stuff like that).

definitely excited for the sleep journal feature to kick in after the 1st month of using whoop, more specifically figuring out what activities, supplements etc. contribute towards more/less deep sleep etc.

if you start a sleep activity then you can track sleep latency i.e. the time it takes you between deciding to sleep and actually falling asleep. If sleep is auto tracked then your latency will be 0 or really close to it.

It’s been super good at tracking my workouts or times I play golf so far. Anything with an elevated heart rate that lasts close to an hour is going to be logged. If you’re gonna do 30mins of, say, yoga and want to track it maybe that’s when you would want to do it manually?

It won’t always pick up the activity. The strain coach can be helpful to push you during a workout as well

Want to put a couple observations out there to see if anyone has run into these issues and has an explanation. Total day strain: I have this issue quite a bit where I will ride on the peloton in the morning and then get a lift in after work. Peloton strain 10, Lift strain 5. Total day strain, 12.6 or whatever. I’m not a mathematician but something doesn’t add up. Secondly: when I ride the peloton I wear a heart rate monitor. Whoop and said monitor are not even close to the same HR. Anybody have similar experiences or thoughts?

Do you use the strain coach or just the auto tracking feature? My experience is the strain coach helps capture activity a bit better, and I’ve also noticed it’s harder to build strain from lifting versus cardio.

I’ve also noticed that strain will sometimes increase after using the strain coach or decrease after it’s logged/analyzed, which could be why you’re not seeing it add up perfectly.

My six months of Whoop is up in July and I will definitely be extending the subscription. I’ve experienced fitness gains and love the constant updating/innovating they do.

Any chance someone can send me the invite to the refuge group?

I exclusively use strain coach. Only time I don’t is when I play golf, and for those times I go in post round and edit the time of activity.

Seriously considering getting the whoop and getting rid of my apple watch. Anybody have any experience with both that they can share?

I have both. Wear the whoop every day. Apple watch has become less often. Mostly using the apple watch for call/message notifications. I’ll track a run on my apple watch using Nike Run Club.

I have been looking at pulling the trigger for a while and I think today might be the day… Is the proknit band worth it as an upgrade aside from having a different color than black?

I wish I would have gotten a color other than black. The black gets really boring after awhile

Apple Watch is just no comparison. No sleep monitoring, health app is somewhat lacking. No data analysis or respiratory rate measured. I’m not saying one is better than the other but rather it’s an apple to oranges

Yes the black band that comes with it is proknit too. It’s comfy and dries / washes easily. No irritation from wearing 24/7 either so far
