“Hmmm yes definitely lightning” -member brushing away sawdust and hiding chainsaw
Post Tussle, playing some southern Ontario golf this week.
Yesterday was TPC Toronto/Osprey Valley - Hoot.
The North course at TPC Toronto will be hosting the Canadian Open next year. The new clubhouse is already offering provocative backstopping opportunities for the par-5 18th hole. (Picture from the patio)
Today I got in 18 at Legends of the Niagara Battlefield course with my brother. Hadn’t played here in about 20 years and it was so much fun. A true course I could play every day. And for C$100 including cart, great value.
Tomorrow is 18 at Ussher’s Creek and an afternoon 18 at Whirlpool
Elie Golf House Club
Elie is special. Rumpled, rocky, and rolling beside the town and over roads and walls before turning out to sea and running the coastline. The 13th may be my favorite hole from the entire trip, a great par 4 with a redan-like green nestled into the base of Kincraig Hill. Could play here everyday. The periscope in the clubhouse is also fun start to the round to see 1 green.
Elie is by far the place I took the most photos. Special place.
Playing Elie in a few weeks, this upped my excitement by 10
Great day today.
Carnoustie (Last Round)
Tight, thick, deep. One question, can you execute? Advertised as the toughest Open test, the course certainly lives up to those standards. Tight fairways, very thick and tall rough and deep bunkers make up every hole. But if the test is aced and a fairway hit it opens up fun approaches and birdie opportunities to 18 unique greens. Our tamest wind day luckily made it relatively playable and fun. My highlight was hitting 3 wood 245 yards to 5 ft on 16 and making the birdie 2. The last hole of our entire trip provided a cool rainbow filled backdrop and a birdie bomb by my pops.
Sounds very similar to RCD… if anyone has played both are they similar in that regard?
Both RCD and Carnoustie, but I think overall, RCD is harder due to the rough and the smallish greens.
Our caddie (the old sup now in office role) did say the rough is really up this year due to rain and sun. It was waist high in points and truely a tough tough pitch out. But did have some areas you could hack and hop it up.
FIF your low cap privilege.
Two new to me courses yesterday, Ussher’s Creek and Whirlpool.
Ussher’s Creek at Legends of the Niagara.
I was really looking forward to Whirlpool, the Stanley Thompson muni in Niagara Falls. Loved the front nine but sadly the skies opened up (with electricity) so the back will have to wait for some other time.
Yeah!
Was able to play Mountain Air in Burnsville, NC with @Big_RanDeer last week. Very fun course with a runway between the 4th, 5th, and 6th holes. Incredibly fun and mountain golf at its finest.
If felt like this was the case on most of the east coast courses we played … elie ate up balls more than I’ve ever seen!
I rewatched TS season 2 yesterday and it looked like a totally different course browned out. Was very lush and green, but still firm.
FTFY
Played the ranch in Southwick ma… really fun routing … nice pub and the staff was very friendly
The Ranch is awesome. Some really fun shots to hit there especially on the holes coming down the hill
