@FlapjackNickelsack any chance we could get a redesign of last year’s logo? At the off-site last night we proposed rebranding ourselves as the Waveland Breakfast Club and now I can’t stop thinking about a bag tag

Can it be last supper style image but it’s at the snack bar… @TeddyPargame can be Jesus… @Ballgame can be Judas…

Need next Thursday night sesh on the books. Could we turn this into a “league” to get us to April? Doesn’t need to be too formal.

I am absolutely here for this

Been dying to get some swings in. Count me in if Thursday is happening

After a productive evening at 5 iron last Thursday. The Waveland Breakfast Ball Club is a step closer to kicking off it’s 3rd season.

First there will be 12 member/regulars spots for 3 tee times each Thursday starting 4/14. I have put in a call to Sydney R. Marovtiz (Waveland) and I am waiting for a call back to confirm that we can pre-book our standing tee times similar to last year.

Secondly, to determine these twelve members, we are treating it similar to season ticket holders. First right of refusal foes to the 12 guis who ponied up last year, after it will go to whoever played the most rounds as a sub, after that its goes out to the general public. As of last Thursday we have 10 returning members and the two subs who played the most have confirmed via text they want in. This leaves us with a competitive sub sheet. Additionally, if there is a week where there isn’t a lot of space for subs you are all more than welcome to book the 4th tee time to join in the game!

Speaking of the game there are lots of them going on this year! Individually, we will be playing a season long quota game in which your top 10 scores will count toward your position at the end of the year to determine who is in the playoffs (Same concept as last year, read further down to learn about the new playoff schedule). New this year we will have 3 teams assigned via a draft. These teams will be headed by the top finishers from last years league. Each team will compete against each other every 4-5 weeks and be assigned a quota score as a team (1st place 2 pts, 2nd 0 pts, 3rd -2 pts). This helps make the team games mean something. At the end of the season, whichever team wins the most points is the winner.

Now as a league last year we did a great job of playing a weekly game outside of quota like wolf, banker, scotch etc. We will continue to play them week in and week out, but an additional weekly game will be introduced this year with a charity aspect in mind. Each week we will be playing split the pot, where you have the chance to put $5 bucks in the pot and whoever has the highest Quota score takes home half the pot, while the other half is donated to the First Tee Chicago. It’s a great way to give back and helps up the ante week in and week out.

As many have said before, red tee week was an awesome time and lots have said we should do it more often! Well you got your wish! The game plan is to play off the reds in April or May and play once more in August. This way you can track your improvement from the short course and see if you improved at all throughout the year.

Now onto the playoffs. Last years playoffs went off just fine. But we as the newly formed Waveland Breakfast Ball Club strive for excellence and have decided to tweak the playoffs this year. This year only the top 8 players will make it (tie breakers will be determined based on your 11th best score). AND to make it even more competitive at the top we are playing Australian Rugby style playoffs. @Ballgame can fill you in more, but the cliff notes are this if you make it to the top 4 you have double eliminations if you are 5-8 only single eliminations. Playoffs will begin and end in the month of September giving us 5 weeks to get 4 rounds of playoffs in.

If you have made it this far I commend you as there is a lot to unpack here and we still have 2.5 months before we even get on the course. My DMs are open for backlash, but I assure you these decisions were made on a group basis, so please blame @TeddyPargame.

Best Regards,

Commish

You and @treeputttim are next in-line next year! You two have big shoes to fill replacing @FlapjackNickelsack as the 6th man of year.

Also I am actively taking applications for Assistant to the Commish . We lost @SammyS to Staples (Louisville, KY). And a newly created Treasurer position. Please apply with the DMs.

@BabblingBrooksKoepka has graciously called dibs on League Statistician, for anyone interested in wanting league stats kept for them he will take your dirty scorecards and keep track of FIR, GIRs, etc.

Spamming the Chicago threads as I already posted in Mudness and Rumspringa, but here we go again:

Well gang, some bad news. I fractured my ankle last night during a broomball game, and looks like I’m going to be out of commission for some time. Doing okay - some pain, but I’ll survive. Though it looks like six weeks on crutches + six weeks in a boot, so I don’t think I’ll be able to take full on hacks until the beginning of May. May need a sub for the first few weeks!

Sorry to hear this. Also I got you.

I would’ve expected you to be back out there in true Kurt Schilling fashion, but I digress. Heal up soon! Does someone have a depth chart for the Next Man Up award? Asking for a friend.

Good luck on the recovery. At least you have a run of Bonesaw Invitational to West Coast Swing through the Masters to recover and work on the short game.

@treeputttim I probably then need a fill in late May through first weeks of June, so you’re gonna rack up the rounds early.

This all sounds great and thanks for getting this all up and running again! Small glimmer of hope to read this on a week with so much snow on the ground.

Will there be a minimum number of rounds to play in order to qualify for the playoffs? Can’t remember how we did that last year.

After watching the latest film room, I’ll throw out the idea of having one week where we play alternate shot matches across the three drafted teams. Can do six-somes or even eight-somes and really make use of our tee times to #growthegame.

Gotta play a minimum of 10 rounds, so half the season, to make the playoffs. To me that seems fair enough as that is 50% and in anything if you show up less than 50% of the time you would be fired.

Love that idea and would want to run that by Waveland (Sydney) as I’m sure they would want to collect more than just 4 payor per tee time if we did it that way.

They are still dodging my calls though to get this on the books…
