Quota seems to be in the lead for the game format for next year. Another few suggested that a match play format gets put into place with points for wins and ties.
I do enjoy the match play bc it would make parings a lot more structured.
What do you’ll think how would a point system match play work?

As much as I love match play, I don’t think it would work as well for the regular season. I think it’s probably best to save it for the playoffs.

This could be a big ask of commish and wild but could we do both… in season Match play in 1 group, other 2 quota. Allows sub days to be quota.
Also allows variety without a declared week.

Quota - covers the other weeks, gets stroke play for those wanting (I don’t play enough and do want some for handi), allows flexibility in scheduling and subs

So just making sure I understand only 4 of 12 people would be having a match each week?
I guess knowing you have to play a match every few weeks, and other weeks are quota would be fun and help break up the monotony of the regular season grind.
Just brainstorming…
Could have two six person pools made up of the fulltime WBC members you have to play one match against each person in your pool. So 5 matches throughout the course of the regular season which is like 18 or 20 weeks if I remember correctly. Could kind of be on each person to schedule those rather than the commish since people’s schedules are wacky, i.e. I see me and ChiFFI are both playing this Thursday’s Breakfast ball and we need to get our match in, I DM him and say Pistols at Dawn, he says let’s do golf clubs at sunrise and our duel is on. Then the top player from each pool play a match to determine the Waveland Breakfast Club regular season match play Champion.
Or we could do 3 4 person pools, and have a wild card spot. Or 4 3 person pools so there’s more room for quota weeks and travel. I don’t know it might get too complicated, but it’s a fun idea, and the pool play of the rap around season has me inspired. Here we already have a set day this is happening every week, and the most dedicated sickos. Pools could also be flighted by handicap so you are having matches with similar skill players, and less pops.
Kind of cool that it would be a title only the full time members are competing for, in my opinion.

So based on the results I think we are going to switch to 20 weeks of play.
With the shortened season I think we should shrink the playoffs, have 4 team weeks that assigns a general quota score for winning team and losing teams.
Now with a shorter playoff here is my idea. Feel free to shit on it…
Top 4 quota pointmakers make the playoffs, but the top quota pointmaker gets a bye the first week and the 4th quota maker plays a match against the match play king.
The match play king is a guaranteed spot of ‘members’ who play 11 matches throughout the regular season against all other members. Best record gets into the wild card of the playoff. If said gui is already in the playoffs it’s next member up. You could take on multiple matches during on week if you’re nervous about not being there for 11 of the 16 weeks.
This kind of gives a one up to the members but only the members who consistently show up plus they all pay the upfront fee so some benefit for the commitment.
We would need 3-4 weeks for playoffs. So the regular season would be 16 weeks (gives us one team game a month). Minimum quota scoring would be 6 weeks meaning you just need to show up a minimum of 37.5% of the time for a chance. We cap quota scoring at 8 rounds so only half your rounds count if you show up all 16 weeks.
