Waveland Breakfast Ball Club: 2025 (Chicago, IL)

We hit every green in regulation from 2-8, but I forgot my putter at home so we had a lot of three putts. Still, extremely fun morning. Team golf is the best.

Need a sub this week

I’ll jump on that

As I sit in my office procrastinating work, I figured I should at least check one thing off the to do list this week and get the groupings out for the WBC. We are now back to our regularly schedule quota game. The next team game week is 8/4 and @PinkPantser still needs a sub for that week.

Groups for this week

5:25: Paul, Kevin, @PinkPantser and @ChiFFI
5:32: Bill @Ballgame Seth Myself
5:39: @TeddyPargame @tmstrods @Wheel Bartell

A quick look to the playoffs that are only 6 weeks away if they were to end today. Friendly reminder, but you play at least 6 rounds during the regular season. So that is what the below outlook is based on!

We have @JAD @TeddyPargame @PinkPantser @treeputttim playing with double elimination rounds while the remaining 4 playoff invites only play with single elimination.
and @with the top two spots. If the playoffs were to start today they would get an extra life while the remaining 6 players would be playing single elimination.

@Ballgame and @TheAbeFroman are on the bubble, but have a few bad rounds that could drop any minute that would rocket them up the leaderboard.

@ChiFFI is in DFL and will need to post +1 or better the rest of the way in to even have a chance at the playoffs. He is still not mathematically eliminated from the race to the clocktower playoffs brought to you by Stans Donuts, but its looking bleak.

Here is how the current match ups would set up

@TrajMahal @FlapjackNickelsack @BabblingBrooksKoepka See above for tee times

@Setwilli @Cswartz @delirioustim are 3 subs that havent quite yet hit that qualified rounds played number, but they are in the positive when it comes to quota and if they play a few more times in the next 6 weeks, could find themselves in the playoffs as well.

Lastly, for the playoffs it will be matchplay and if both players cannot make it on that week, then they will have to play 9 holes before the next week to determine who moves on.

(Have also played in the group behind Mora and this is all I thought about the whole round, also had to pay him $5 for the pot)

Remind me how many rounds you have to post to be able to drop one? Need to get that stinky -4 from last week off my plate.

gotta get past 10 rounds

Got to play Sydney’s pretentious Oxford grad cousin, The Toronto Hunt, while visiting family in Canada this past week. Course gave me some bad marks the first two rounds but managed to pass the final. Hey, C’s get degrees.

If my Thursday morning round from last week, which ironically took place at the same time as Breakfast Ball with the time change, counted towards WBC scores I would’ve been -3. It’s even worse when apply the current USD/CAD exchange rate to my US quota of 11 (-6)

Takeaways:

  • Camaraderie was lacking at The Hunt, missed the breakfast ball boys
  • As expected, everything was immaculate. Better be for a private 9 hole club with a $30k CAD initiation fee … From white sand bunkers to flawlessly maintained (and level) tee boxes, it was everything Sydney wanted to be until going to a small suburban DIII college to obtain a BA in Liberal Arts while focusing on drinking it’s way to a mediocre Track & Field career (can relate)
  • Was most definitely the youngest person on course
  • A Great Lake was still in play off the first tee
  • Clock tower was nonexistent, however, I did enjoy the Washington 4 Dial clock (pictured below) on the ‘existent’ practice green
  • Every player was given a complimentary push cart for the round as there are only a few riding carts for the John Daley’s of the world
  • Very comparable course from the tips, just a touch shorter without a second par 5 making it a par 35/70. Rating 69.2, Slope 128, with a 9 hole yardage of just under 2,900 yds.

Fun fact, the 1988 G7 Economic Summit was held at The Hunt. I wonder if Reagan had some birdies to help the quota … if so, none ‘trickled down’ to my scorecard.

Sydney = “We have Toronto Hunt at home”

Syd would be way more than $30k.

Any chance I can swap someone for the first group? Might be cutting it close to an early meeting.

I gotcha

If anyone wants to swap groups with me I am WFH tomorrow and don’t particularly care about being out fast to get into the office.

Just wanted to offer that up as I know times are creeping back

I could go for that swap Ryan if it’s still on the table

Perfect, first group is yours good sir

Not WBC but a spot opened up in the Illinois/Michigan Ryder Cup this weekend. Only catch is you’d have to play for their team…PM me if you have any interest.

Just posting in a bunch of semi relevant threads for visibility.
