Waveland Breakfast Ball Club: 2025 (Chicago, IL)

Random takeaways:

#1 - everybody birdied

#2 - played combined 5 under

#3 - only one birdie, from the winners no less

#4 - played 2 under, though my team still made a mess of it

#5 - only played 2 under…which compared to #2 is about a 1 shot difference

#6 - only one birdie from our squad…maybe something to having two of our team take the red tee shot there?

#7 - all pars! in a scramble! i guess it’s not a decided advantage from the up tees and i think everyone was running out of red options

#8 - actually shocked there was only one birdie here, considering we usually get multiple in a non-scramble format

#9 - three birdies here, strong finish at the clocktower for the boys

Also, just want to point out the Pam Beasley meme above proved to be as true as Bryson’s par 67 comment did @Ballgame

I had a blast…scottish foursomes for British The UK British Open presented by Her Majesty the Queen Week 7/14??? (shoutout @TeddyPargame for the idea)

Hell yes. Or maybe just straight alt shot?

Edit: it may be best to save alt shot for late season when we’re trying to get our rounds in quickly.

Great team win today, most importantly I think that was the most fun I’ve had on the golf course in a long time. Maybe Wolff is onto something with the team aspect…

I’d like to shout out my Mensches:

  • @FlapjackNickelsack for clutching up with the drives down the stretch

  • @TeddyPargame for putting like a madman and being the tactical genius behind the score

  • Jon for making a long, clutch birdie bomb and crucially giving me a ride back and forth these two weeks (avoiding last week’s Afghanistan withdrawal-esque logistics in getting to the course)

Great seeing everyone and can’t wait to be back again after next week!

@FlapjackNickelsack hit the shit out of it today. We used his tee ball on 5 holes.

The kid just steps up in team golf. Cares about others more than himself.

truly just need the pressure. beginning my campaign now to make the breakfast ball an all-teams-event next year.

The fact that I thought the team was Metze’s Mesches (named after an American visual artist) not Mensches (Yiddish for good person) is hilarious.

Either way, the ‘Good People’ hit shots that were pure ‘Visual Artistry’ on the course this morning

I almost hit a ball out of bounds through the 8th hole fairway off the 2nd tee (Red) today.

I just needed to get that off my chest and share with the group. We own our faults here, and we get better together by doing so.

I also hit the 2nd fairway off of the 4th tee, the 4th fairway off of the 5th tee, and the 1st fairway off of the 9th tee. This is not what I meant when I said I wanted to hit more fairways this year.

Group 1 saw you on 4 after 5 away from your team and assumed you were headed back to the lot.

On this bleak Wednesday morning, I bring you tomorrows groupings.

5:10 @treeputttim @PinkPantser @JAD @Cswartz
5:20 Myself @TrajMahal @ChiFFI @TheAbeFroman
5:30 Bartell @FlapjackNickelsack @Setwilli @Ballgame

Weather is looking clear for now, but based on the rain we had this morning course is going to be soggy.

It is all yours Seth. If you could throw my shag bag cooler into the car with one of the breakfast ball regulars I can grab it from them the following week. Thank you!

@BabblingBrooksKoepka are the stats to date inclusive of all regular weeks (not RTW and not teams) going back to week one? 9 weeks so far?

I can take.

You listed Joe twice and missed me.

Sorry about that fixed that

Classic Chicago politics, you think Joe made it to the top of the Waveland Breakfast Ball Club Leaderboard by only being in one foursome a morning. You gotta vote early and often around here.

WBC sportsbook is now open and offering the following over/under plays for totals at the end of the regular season.

  1. O/U total birdies or better for all players - 85.5 (there have been 53 to date)
  2. O/U gross scoring average for all players (no esc) - 41.75 (42.25 to date)
  3. O/U fairways hit for all players - 33.50% (32.44% to date)
  4. O/U GIR for all players - 40.75% (40.08% to date)
  5. O/U putting strokes avg for all players - 16.85 (16.90 to date)

We have played 9 “regular” weeks so far and I believe there are 5 left before the playoffs.

$5max per bet. PM me or find me on the first tee tomorrow if you want to book.

Notes and caveats below.
  1. You are betting on season totals, not the remainder of the season
  2. Team weeks and red tee weeks do not count
  3. Assumes five more weeks of standard play and three weeks of team play in the regular season. If another team week is added or subtracted the total birdies bet quantity will be prorated accordingly, other bets will stand as-is.
  4. Bets must be placed by start of 7/7 round
