Visiting the Titleist Performance Institute Feat. D.J., Casey, and Cody

In most states PTs can basically do what a Chiro does and vice versa without being licensed in both. That would require A LOT of extra school for no real benefit.

Fair. I think I meant more if your PT hasn’t done any additional training/focus on chiro / doesn’t do it at all, I’d be finding a different PT.

Well besides going to the range infinity times, what is your personal improvement plan?

Probably find a new coach just to check on my swing every few weeks.

Congrats to Adam Scott for having the objectively best functioning body on tour. About time something went his way

Would love a Adam Scott vs Nelly video on the tpi stuff
More the swing than the other

Went and did a TPI assessment after watching a litany of TPI youtube videos. Results were not good! Almost all red lights on the test. It was super informative how some of my body limitations forces my golf swing into shitty positions.

Just curious…

Middle of the day, having just walked or moved around a bit (so not right after sitting at a desk for four hours straight), you’re asked to stand up and touch your toes (straight knees, etc.). You can…
  • Get fingertips past your knees
  • Touch the tongue of a basketball shoe
  • Touch the tip of your toes with fingers
  • Put your palms flat on the ground

Just diving into this and at first I was confused why the video was so long until I realized Iona’s going extended director’s cut. Really cool to see the full process. My wife was watching part of it and started getting all competitive standing on one leg with her eyes closed.

Had a TPI assessment this afternoon. Fitness handicap of 24. Not surprising to me, my hips don’t work so good. Surprising to me, my left shoulder also doesn’t work so good.

Awaiting my fitness program over the next couple of days. Let’s have an offseason.

I’ve worked with TPI certified athletic therapists or physiotherapists for a few years, off and on. It’s always good stuff and my body and game always feel better for doing it. Mostly it’s about consistency in following through on the fitness aspect.

It’s not hard to find someone TPI-certified near you and don’t get caught up in thinking that you need something super complicated or advanced to benefit. For most of us, we have glaring physical issues that are known to hold back golf swings. Don’t feel that you need a swing coach at the same time.

I just spoke to a TPI guy here locally that the guy i take lessons from recommended.

Full screening, six half hour sessions (1 a week) and an at home training program.

$1750! Thats close to $500 an hour.

I will be politely declining. As much as it pains me. Am i crazy?

A bargain at twice the price. Maybe.

What are you hoping to achieve with tpi?

I did a TPI screening that included 3 semi-private trainer lead workouts to address key areas etc. $129.

Was it what Greg Rose is offering in these NLU videos? No. But it did go through the full TPI movements accessment, logged deficiencies & strengths, and then provided workouts and options to support whats needed. Then the workouts were designed around these areas.

Sadly it was just far enough away from my house that I couldn’t make the schedule work aside from the screening and 3 visits

Same thing we are all looking to achieve. Feel better and maybe even swing better. But feel better being #1
