Also yes, I know. I’ll do it to myself
Joe mayo is so hard right now
I didn’t listen to that pod but he might be on to something. I thought that kind of low spinning shot was unnecessarily risky before but I guess my technique was just bad. It was really easy once I got the hang of it.
He’s the low spinner wizard. I liked his stuff before and the pod was psychotic. A must listen
Wow. I’ll be taking the drive to Acushnet this spring. This sounds well worth the price tag.
Did a TPI movement assessment today and my handicap is…29. Not good at all, but also explains why I struggle with early extension and lost of posture.
Also did a power assessment. Lower body strength is good. Core and upper body are barely average.
Waiting for full report to share.
My friend, in my recent TPI assessment I too was a 29…
At one point I asked him how I was even remotely any good at golf (~15 handicap) and he said “well, you have a good shoulder turn and you’re somewhat athletic so thats what is saving you.”
Going back next week and getting a full tailored program to help work on stability/mobility. Hope this improves my golf game now as a 48 year old - but more importantly hopefully it will help me to still be playing golf when I am 78 and not be a totally decreipt old man.
Red: Pelvic Tilt, Toe Touch, Lower Quarter Rotation, Seated Trunk Rotation, Bridge With Leg Extension.
Yellow: Pelvic Rotation, 90/90, Single Leg Balance, Lat Test.
Green: Setup Posture, Torso Rotation, Overhead Deep Squat, Cervical Rotation, Forearm Rotation, Wrist Hinge, Wrist Flexion/Rotation.
This is a savage compliment to pay someone!
Ha I know! Even if he said “reasonably athletic” I would have felt better.
And I played 4 years of collegiate D3 soccer, though over 25 years ago, but he was a strength and conditioning coach for the Chicago Bears so his standards of athleticism are probably pretty high.
I never felt so unathletic in my life then having a guy who working with legit nfl super athletes measure my hip mobility
one time a physio got mad at me because i was lifting my leg as high as it would go and she assumed i was screwing with her.
No lady, it’s not a joke, my hammies and hips really are that tight, yes I manage to get around somehow, yes it’s always been that way, no i’m not interested in revamping my entire lifestyle to achieve what you perceive as better “baseline” numbers
This happened to me in college as well - we would all be stretching before practice and every once in awhile my coach would yell at me for not stretching.
I would try to convince him I couldn’t actually stretch my body any more than I already was but not sure if he ever bought it.
nice work - what specifically are you doing to make this progress - a tailored program, stretching on your own, hot yoga?
PS I have a “home corrective program” my guy created which I am extremely excited/hopeful for.
I’ve been doing the prescribed TPI exercises 4-5 days/week in addition to my regular PT. The 30’ TPI routine that I was prescribed in the app really only took maybe half that time.
With this new screening results I now have a different prescribed TPI program that’s about 50% new stuff from the one I’ve been doing since December.
would you recommend this TPI assesment at Carls?
Yes. Not as in depth as you’d probably get by actually going to TPI, but was still pretty helpful for me.
Interesting update from TPI in the comment section on this video: https://youtu.be/elJiGZAajnM?si=yQkmTrAVEjRaNEeG
We may be offering evals at TPI later in 2025 or 2026. Currently, most of our bandwidth is dedicated to Titleist players and partners, but we expect to accommodate more players next year. The Performance Evaluations will be conducted by a member of the TPI team (not necessarily Greg or Dave) and include movement assessment, strength and power assessment, force plate data, 3D motion capture and full Body-Swing Connection report. It’s the same process and body swing connection assessment you see in these videos There will be very limited opportunities (maybe 300-400 slots per year). If you’d like to be added to our waitlist for first access to future appointments, please contact Chamonie Vinci (chamonie.vinci@mytpi.com)
