Utah Golf Event 10/18-10/20

UTAH GOLF EVENT

Inspired by the generic nature of the Utah Hockey Club, we are exciting to announce the Utah Golf Event. We will be playing a net scoring round on Saturday morning 10/19 at Soldier Hollow - Silver course. Soldier Hollow was a major venue during the 2002 Winter Olympics and both the Gold and Silver courses are consensus favorites for Northern Utah golfers. The Silver course is a scoring delight, with generous fairways and six par 5s, six par 4s, and six par 3s. The Silver Course also has terrific views of Mount Timpanogos and overall makes for a very enjoyable day of golf.

After the Saturday golf, we are planning on going to Utah Hockey Club’s second home game in Salt Lake City (barring ticket prices staying at $400 a ticket). Our Dry Heat brethren can come up from Arizona and see their old Coyotes playing for a new city. Whether they hate that or love that is to be determined. University of Utah football also plays TCU that night as an alternative option that is likely cheaper if ticket prices don’t drop.

We are also planning on playing an optional Friday evening 9 hole round at Forest Dale GC and an optional Sunday morning 18 hole round at Bonneville GC, both great Salt Lake City munis.

@ComfyDouble has already secured five tee times for Saturday morning at Soldier Hollow. Cost for that round is $87 per person, plus we will be asking for a $20 donation per person to the Salt Lake City youth golf programs. The tee times for Friday and Sunday will be paid for later.

For the @DryHeat members, this will be one of the events to determine our Regional team next summer.

Sign up sheet is here, let me or @ComfyDouble know if there are any questions!

This sounds awesome. I won’t be able to make it this year, headed to SF that weekend with my wife. But can speak to how awesome Soldier is , and am jealous for those who get to go.

I wanna be there. Just gotta make sure the lady isn’t gonna knife me about it.

I feel so hurt by that logo but it’s admittedly awesome haha

In for this! I will start asking around for tickets with some friends who work for the Coyotes/Hockey Club.

It’s also decision day for MLS that Saturday with RSL hosting Vancouver, if you’re into that kinda thing.

Flights are cheap at the moment, will likely book something today.

$300 round trip is not bad at all and the ST rental scene in SLC looks to be prime for a deal.

Doesn’t look like Utah/TCU is going to be a cheap ticket at $200+ per ticket right now on StubHub and no single game tickets from Utah. I’d love to see Dr. Cameron Rising (he has to be a Doctor 8 years into college right?) play. It must be homecoming or something as ASU/Utah tickets are like $25 right now.

That’s wild. I’ve never seen tickets be that steep. I’m asking some Ute fans I know to see if they have any insights.

Unless there is some satellite campus of Texas Christian University in Salt Lake or just massive alumni base there - it just doesn’t make sense outside of homecoming or some other event.

I guess Utah and TCU are legacy rivals so there is a lot of hype around that matchup returning

No one makes up rivals, without notifying the other fanbases, like the Utah Utes so it makes “sense.” One of the more delusional CFB message board communities in the country which is IMPRESSIVE.

Sports scene is apparently thriving in the SLC given ticket prices to these events. The soccer game, and man is soccer doing a lot of heavy lifting given it’s the MLS, are like $20 a piece.

I love the chaos of Utah twitter. They’re unhinged and it’s amazing content. I follow so many Ute fans on there. Great people in person though.

I’m in, I’ll ask my wife for forgiveness later.

As an AZ - UT transplant it pains me that I will be back in AZ for a wedding that weekend. Can confirm Soldier Hollow is great, and in the fall it is as good as they come. Enjoy

It’s official the waffle man is coming to Salty Pond.

Any recs on areas to stay?

Super bummed to not make this work out this year. I hope everyone has a blast and I will be eyeing this in future years.

Downtown is probably best for non-golf activities and walkable to the Delta Center for the potential hockey game. Sugarhouse has a few bars and restaurants that is walkable as well.

Sugar house/liberty wells has a bunch of airbnbs and are pretty accessible to everything you’d want to do and easy access to forest dale if that ends up happening.

I’m from MI & can’t attend, but I just wanted to pop in & say the branding for this event is the best I’ve seen in a long time. A+ stuff

Flights are booked. Getting in at 3 on Friday. Will that work for the Friday golf?

Should be! Forest Dale is about 15 minutes from the airport and we’ll probably try and play at 4-4:30 if possible to make sure we have enough sun.
