It’s probably worth it. Tee times can get really dicey here quickly.

Alright, Dobson’s online booking window appears to open on 2/21. I’ll call the course tomorrow or Saturday to block out a few foursomes starting at 1pm. Please answer this poll if you plan to be with us so I can get a decent headcount:

Dobson update: first available tee time for our group is 1:40. That would be cutting it close with daylight, but there is a shotgun start that morning and first group after that is 1pm (someone else got those earlier times). What do the locals think, will that work? I believe sunset will be around 6:30.

4:15-4:40 for Dobson is probably good to go.
I’m down to try and play somewhere else, but it doesn’t get much cheaper than Dobson.
I’m not opposed to paying more, probably bc I’m used to it around here, but I understand if other folks aren’t.

I’m good with wherever…I like Dobson just bc I feel like it’s a good warmup, but put me on the tee sheet for whatever gets picked and I’ll show up.

(Whispers) Dobson is pretty mid and thanks to influencers, it’s overrun with big letter hats, golf but louder vibes, and shouldn’t drink Aguila’s bathwater.
It’s also not GCU so it has that going for it. Our local muni, public golf is so hard this time of year. It’s enough to dream of 100 degree temps and $70 greens fees at Whirlwind, We Ko Pa, or Talking Stick.
Let’s get fucking weird and go to Toka Sticks. The Army Corps of Engineers, the Coore and Crenshaw of the military, made that place at least weird and interesting.

The price is right and there is availability. How is it location wise for a Saturday evening downtown ish dinner like last year?

Don’t understand what the hype is about Dobson (Albeit only been here for 18 months.) would play aguila or Papago a million times before I tried to play Dobson again.
Edit* very clear statement - cannot attend Saturday so I have no skin in the game. Just a loser who wants to interject his opinion.

We’re already playing Aguila (I don’t think anyone would argue Dobson is better than Aguila) and good luck to any locals trying to get multiple foursomes there on a Saturday. Or you can pay nearly $200 IIRC for a course not remotely worth that price tag. Dobson is a totally fine course and a decent rate for the time of year. There aren’t many better cost effective options.

Worse location wise from ‘downtown’ if that’s where everyone is staying for sure.
About 20 mins SE of Dobson. 30ish mins to Aguila. There’s plenty of stuff within 15 mins of the course, it’s just not the center of town.
To be clear, Dobson is better architecturally, but Toka is usually in good condition and very very laid back.
Yeah cost effective options is fully out of the window this time of year lol

We could look at downtown Gilbert or Chandler. I don’t think downtown Phoenix makes logistical sense.
