Stringer Bell-Bryson DeChambeau, thinks he’s smarter than he actually is & thinks he has this whole innovative way of doing things that will make him superior to everybody
Brother Mouzone-Matt Kuchar, all shtick & fake but a lowkey killer
Bubbles-Joel Dahmen, snitch (like he did on sung kang)
Cutty Wise-Brendon Todd, came up as a good prospect but went deep in the wilderness/jail & came out of it & got their life/game together
Donut-Akshay Bhatia, way too young to be out there, reckless
Tommy Carcetti-Cameron Champ, white mayor in a black city, black golfer in a white sport
Carver-Harold Varner III, both like to laugh & have personality
I had Jay Landsman as Matt Kuchar - kind of a practical joker, spineless, Landsman never really did any great police work like Kuch hasn’t won a major. I think Landsman feels he’s liked by both the people above and below him in the chain of command, similar to Kuch being pretty well liked (as far as I know) by other PGA tour guys while being a fan favourite (less so after the caddie tipping, which is something Landsman would have done, for sure). I’ve always thought Kuch plays up the smiley aww shucks stuff to make the crowd like him, similar to how Landsman sucks up to Rawls.
Also, I can’t remember if it was mentioned on the pod, but I had Ricky as Namond Brice. Comes onto the scene with the flashy clothes and seems to be the leader of the younger kids, but as we learn over time he’s decidedly not a killer.
not sure if this should go here or in the strapped season 5 thread but at least here I know i won’t spoil anything for anyone.
but i’m currently watching the wire for the first time and I just watched the scene in season 5 where bunk is trying one last time to talk mcnulty out of going forward with the fake serial killer and brings lester in to talk him out of it, but it backfires on bunk. the whole time I could picture this same scene going down with the strapped boys @MerchCzar obviously as mcnulty and @Randy as lester and @djpie as bunk (since he’s a narc), and neil is explaining to randy this fake scenario on how the cart guys at the first course stole the last of their balls so they could try and get more balls from the c-suite. and dj tells randy you gotta tell him how dumb this and how it can only lead to more sanctions but instead randy says “he’s right they wouldn’t believe that the strapped boys always carry their own bags… but they might believe some sort of bag malfunction led to the balls falling out of the bag and that’s why they’re gone and why we deserve another sleeve”. DJ bows out and sits in the dodge minivan and gets footage of peoria the rest of the weekend since he can’t have any part of their scam.
