So when is @man_integrated / @huntsman getting his own spin-off pod? This is an absolutely fascinating listen from a guy who obviously knows his stuff.
For anyone looking to catch up on all twitter content he has put out, enjoy the going down many different rabbit holes like I did.
And yeah China is a bad hombre.
@Randy people who talk on speaker phone in public areas are the worst
Also Randy, “well I’m sitting here calling in from the first fairway…”
I’m sure our guy here was courteous as always, but the dichotomy made me laugh.
The Big Guy is totally on point that speaker phone usage in public is a disgrace, but my question is, what about people who do the same with AirPods? Almost just as bad to me, if not worse.
This podcast will definitely not help my anxiety around the state of the world, right
I didn’t find it too anxiety-inducing. I choose to look at it as mildly comforting knowing there are some actual professionals around looking out and anticipating what’s coming. Watching for the chokepoints, if you will.
Hate to see @Randy trying to push onerous regulations on mom-and-pop grocery stores in this already-trying economic climate. I knew he was in the pocket of BigGrocery, but had no idea he secretly held such anti-small business sentiment.
I, for one, am glad to see the Trap Draw return to its roots of varying degrees of audio quality throughout the pod.
@Randy @Tron I can confirm that quite a few people in the greater-Detroit area would refer to the grocery store “Meijer” as “Meijer’s”. Subsequently, I would say a large contingent of late-boomers to early-greatest generationers would refer to “Ford” as “Ford’s.” I believe back in their youth Ford was looked at as more of a family-owned and operated company (certainly more so than it is today) thus necessitating the possessive for family ownership.
Or, my very blue collar area south of Detroit just said everything wrong due to lack of quality education. Who can say?
Don’t count out the lead in the water supply as a reason.
Flint is not considered metro Detroit find a new slant.
It’s very much an upper Midwest thing. Tons of folks in Indiana do the same thing. I’ve also heard people add “the” to every store. “I’m going to The Meijer’s” for example.
Menards is shitting on this idea
Corporations are people too, Duffer
One thing not mentioned re: ocean freight and the impact on the supply chain inside China is that the empty containers here are typically loaded with things like scrap steel, copper, and aluminum to be sent back to China to be melted/manufactured into the new products. The demand got so high for empties in China that the shipping lines just started sending the containers back empty so they wouldn’t have to worry about the turnaround time of emptying and inspecting the containers once they got to China. Not only is it a pain in the ass to get things into the ports in the US right now but it’s also a pain in the ass to send things back out
Does the Refuge have its own supply chain guy: theHambuglar_integrated?
Is it a cry for help or is Randy’s road trip a scouting visit to Delaware to move and/or become incorporated (SlenderMan LLC d/b/a Big Randy Inc.).
Very specific areas of supply chain expertise
I think we have a few, including myself.
