Trap Draw: The Kingdom

So extremely interesting Trap Draw this week (mea culpas to anyone looking forward to Phoenix grocery store conversations). There’s a million ways to go with it, but here’s a fun read about the worst aspects of the region with a lot of interesting perspective from the Jordanians.

Big part of @Tron and my prep was watching ‘The Dissident’. Would recommend.

While I was looking forward to a discussion on AJ’s Fine Foods, The Kingdom proved to be a much more compelling topic. Definitely need to check out the recommended doc.

Briefly in and it’s incredible so far. What a very unique place to say the least.

Agreed. I finished it all in one sitting and loved it. Huge respect to @Randy and @Tron for going head first into a controversial subject that not many others in golf would touch with a ten foot stick. Little worried about the Pegasus software finding itself into Tron’s Twitter account though, I’m going to have to be careful clicking his tweets from now on.

Also kudos for Mr Cody, what a badass CIA cover name. The way he paused when asked if he has met MBS.

Cody’s gonna be pissed you called him CIA.

Congrats. I think you’re on a list now :joy:

Does that mean it’ll flow into Kroger’s computer system via the targeted ads?

Well if Mr. Cody was good at his job he’d already know I’m on a list because I grew up in Zarechny, Russia (aka Penza-19). I probably have a FSB file and simultaneously can’t step foot into a DOD building or site like Livermore.

My grandpa was a military contractor for the KGB, or straight up KGB, and setup telecommunications in the SF embassy and Cuba.

One thing I noticed was how informed Mr. Cody was about the geopolitics of that whole region. He seems really good at his job. Whatever that is.

Lived in Phoenix my whole life and I did think there would be a little more talk about the area but I completely understand… phoenix is boring as hell and would much rather talk about anything. I do work in the grocery scene though (current safeway employee and former Fry’s produce boy). Fry’s is definitely the way to go, much better produce and overall run better from a workers’ perspective. One point for the Kroger brand @Randy

@Randy Check out the book Black Banner if you have some extra time. Not the easiest read but it goes into the background of the war against Al-Qaeda.

Watching the tournament currently and fell down a wiki rabbit hole. It’s not surprising if you think about it but I had no idea there isn’t a single river in the entire Arabian peninsula.

That’s just because they have underground rivers of oil.

you used the term “golf influencer” in the podcast but wanted to give you GHINfluencer for future use.

That pod was amazing. Cody was so knowledgeable and laid a complicated scene out so well. Great work @Tron and @Randy

Much better than the 16th Hole police report recap from Scottsdale I was expecting.

I would expect some different mea culpas this week. Don’t click on any links via WeChat

Mr Cody might have been my favourite trapdraw guest. Phenomenal listen and really appreciated his willingness to dive into really tough subject matter with frankness and consideration.

Huge kudos to the boys for tackling this topic in a thoughtful way. Welcomed divergence others in golf…

Yeah was super excited at the teasing of future additional content with “Cody” because that was a really good interview.

Also disappointed I didn’t take the opportunity to talk to Cody at the NIT, so many questions I would have asked!

I was wondering if Cody was a nesticle
