Trap Draw: Sin City

Kids these days have probably never even considered having to sort through seeds and stems.

This is an absolute travesty and filtering through all of that builds character. Everyone should deal with a shitty bag of weed at some point.

was it the same buddy who missed his anniversary dinner at a Michelin restaurant?

If you want some free entertainment watching the hoard of drunks descend on the Chick-Fil-A in the Golden Nugget just after midnight Saturday Night/Sunday morning only to find out its closed is quite entertaining. When I was there in early March the poor kid employed to stand at the end of the line and break the news to people was on the receiving end of everything from offers of sexual favors to threats of violence.

No. Friend from high school this time.

The other guy at least has taste for good food. Even though he missed it.

Oh god, that would be an absolute treat to watch.

I saw a guy at 11:00pm on a Saturday night buy 35 sandwiches from the Miracle Miles Shops CFA and proudly proclaim that he was gonna keep them warm and sell them to everyone with a hangover the next morning at 9:00am. Savvy business move right there.

The place to buy weed in Vagas is at NuWu. Massive selection at a bunch of different price points. Owned and operated by the Paiute Tribe.

Well now that I know about this place…

The last time I was in Vegas was to see the Backstreet Boys. After the show I was standing in line for a club with my girlfriends, one who was visably pregnant, one who was watching her infant sleep via her monitor app, when we all looked at each other and realized at the same moment that we were too old for the clubs and instead went back to the hotel to drink Prosecco.

My mind instantly jumped to that scene in Bridesmaids.

I had a great, low-key Vegas experience. Would have liked to stay another day and eat at Lotus of Siam and have the buffet experience at one of the big hotels. Cirque du Soleil was ok but I wish I’d seen the Beetles one bc I’m probably not going to do that again. The next time I go to Vegas I want it to be for a UFC event.

No one mentioned The Laundry Room yet?

I recommend the Absinthe show in the tent outside Caesars. Great combo of acrobatics, bawdy humor, and just fun times.

I have actually seen that one and stayed awake throughout it, too. Pretty good.

  1. “Who did we effort” is the best part of my podcasting week, every week.

  2. The drive back to LA is the absolute worst. Hours and hours of stop and go traffic mega hungover is so, so bad. Shout out to the greek pita restaurant (Happy Greek?) in Barstow.

2b. The drive to Vegas from LA is as awesome as the trip back is bad. The anticipation, the inevitable roadies, the moment when you round that last corner and see the lights.

  1. Early 20s dead broke Vegas was the best Vegas. Sweating $20 sports bets and $5 blackjack, staying 4 to a room in absolute shitholes, praying your ATM withdraw works, the best.

  2. Great shout out to Cut. The actual best steakhouse in America.

  3. Heard some golf discussion. Come on guys, you’re better than that.

Hey, if you prefer spending 20 minutes de-seeding your brown bick of Mexican herb, go for it.

Was it inappropriate to shoutout Jordan Spieth’s future employer on a Trap Draw pod? Maybe. But @Randy wanted to know about the dining options at McCarran, so I made a judgment call with respect to the PGA Tour Restaurant. I’ll own it.

The drive from Phoenix is almost identical time and complete desert. The few times I did it, I felt like I flew to Vegas in no time. The drives home were the absolute worse. One time I pulled off on the side of a 2 lane highway and had to sleep it off a little more.

I knew I had reached adulthood when I finally didn’t get shitfaced on Saturday night so I could start the drive back to LA early enough to miss traffic. It was a glorious feeling.

Backtrack a few years to my first Vegas visit: It was for work and my second year out of college. My coworker had a friend who lived in town and took us around. The only thing I really remember is the Chandelier Bar at the Cosmopolitan. Woke up the next morning, couldn’t see straight, showed up at my customer’s production factory and took some pictures for my own posterity. Looked at the photos later and none were straight but all were blurry. It was not a fun flight home.

Being hungover in the McCarran security line, then on a long flight, might be even worse than driving back to LA in traffic. The inevitable pattern of a) go hard on Friday, b) go hard on Saturday to avoid feeling like shit, c) deal with a mega compound hangover while traveling home on Sunday is terrible in your 20s and borderline physically impossible thereafter.

Also, re: the pool parties, these will make you feel like death because in addition to getting hammered you’re outside in 110 degree heat. All the dehydration.
