Trap Draw: Monterey Peninsula

Now instead of a quaint hamlet for the rich imagine if it was an entire country that relies on tourism

“It may be difficult for GPS addicts to comprehend, but Costa Rica doesn’t have a standardized system of addresses – at least not ones that can be typed into MapQuest. Many streets aren’t named, and virtually none have signs. Many houses don’t have numbers.” - link here

Getting to our resort in Arenal from San Jose was a trip

My now fiance and I took a rental car down most of the entire west coast of the country (quite the journey in a toyota corolla) and we spent at least 90 minutes every day just asking people where things were and how to get there

Seconded

Roar, Joyce, Wrath, Scheid and Blair are all ones you can visit in the area that have really good pinot or other reds. A mix of price points in those where some are high end (roar) and some have some in the 15-40 dollar range. Scheid has some cool wines that come from some of their vineyards way down near King City in particular one that uses a Valpolicella appasimento style to make the wine. The Pisoni family also makes great pinot and Syrah, sold under various labels, they just don’t have a tasting room

What style do you like? Oaky chards or lighter?

A little bit on the dry/citrusy side. I like Pinot Grigio and Rieslings.

Hahn, Georis and maybe caraccioli for some bubbles. A couple of places have some stainless Chardonnay’s but not much Pinot Grigio. Mostly Chardonnay and some random other whites around here
