Trap Draw: Monterey Peninsula

Which makes me curious how lucrative photography is. Currently its like 175k to join there and 1500/month or so. (a bargain relative to the initiation at MPCC)

The guy Urban just hired as his strength coach is a very bad dude. Sick individual. Not good. Get out quickly @Randy

I suspect that Photography, in general, is not very lucrative… unless you are the top 1% elite

Yeah. I would. This is a touristy recommendation. Phil’s is the seasoned veteran peninsula local spot which I am FINE with no one finding out about as it’s crowded enough on the weekends already.

I was a little torn about this episode. I liked Joann and she had some good things too say, but she proclaimed herself as a transplant and it really felt that way. Probably the things I appreciated most were her fervent use of the Monterey airport, as well as her mention of driving to my hometown (Watsonville) to pick up a chopper…flex

@Tron i was very impressed by your mention of Bayo and Blackhorse. Everyone should play those courses when they’re on the Peninsula. If you want some mega local older guy vibes a la “The Franchise” for the next go round, I’ll hook you up with my pops.

Only locals truly appreciate what a massive flex this is.

So. Good.

We have the rainy season and the dry season. Sometimes the rainy season is also the dry season. The temp sometimes gets warmer in the summer months for a few days at a time but it can also be 50 in July

Also, mentioning “good spots for breakfast” in Monterey and leaving out Rosine’s is borderline criminal

@Tron @Randy It was funny when you talked about wanting to hear more about super niche sports like bobsled (which incidentally, is now known as bobsleigh for some reason).

If you guis do your Western Canada Tourist Sauce, you could plummet down the very same track as the Jamaican Bobled Team. Although it’s unclear if Randy would fit.

Rosines, LuLu’s, Katy’s Place and the Wagon Wheel are the best diner options for Breakfast. Some cafe and pastry spots to check out are Alta, Carmel Belle and my personal favorite Rise and Roam. Below is a chocolate strawberry croissant from there

No addresses? That has to be in the top 5 most pretentious things a town can do. #1 being of course having “by-the-Sea” in your official town name.

Shout out Southpark

Finally got around to listening and my God I wanna hang out with Joann, what an absolute menace. I can confirm that the preserve is a stunning piece of land that has one of the coolest wedding venues these eyes have ever seen.

Her rec of folktale winery is my only qualm, their wine #stinks compared many of the other valley joints, the atmosphere is pretty great to her credit

Haha I was just coming here to sing the praises of Folktale. We’ve been a part of a few different wine clubs in the valley and Folktake has been our favorite by a mile. Their pinots (especially the 777 clones) are criminally underrated IMO. I would love for the price point on them to be a bit lower but I’m hard pressed to think of many pinots I prefer at a lower price point.

Additionally, Joann was spot on that it’s an excellent winery to visit with young children. We usually visit the area in July/August and our girls look forward to going there in the afternoon for warm sun, great food and getting to play with other kids that you’re all but certain to find running around the lawn games area while parents enjoy a leisurely afternoon.

Aw man, maybe I need to give it another try, I was left unimpressed the only two times I’ve been. Could’ve been some long opened bottles. Vibe is top notch, I will not argue that fact

I’m with you on this one. Vibe is spectacular. Wine is meh. Doesn’t even crack top 5 wineries in the area in my book

My love is just of their pinots. I rarely buy their cabs and red blends because they don’t stand up in the $70-120 price point. Some of the whites are serviceable at $25-30 but not standout by any means.
