A podcast about Memphis with no BBQ discussion?
Kyle Porter really does hate Memphis…

Did the guys cover the Memphis Putt Putt Fun Center? “Your Memphis headquarters for fun and juvenile riots for the last 57 years!”
They did not. Honestly very little Memphis talk except for the Pyramid, Liberty Bowl, FedEx and some Grizzles talk. Sounds like neither Tron or Randy have spent any time at all in Memphis, so understandable.
So it was just like the Twin Cities episode
All I think about when I hear Memphis is this weird ass Bass Pro Shop video.
Probably controversial take, Memphis is a much better visit than Nashville. Better live music if you’re into blues, and their BBQ is great.
Glad to hear TC finally experienced KC airport since he didn’t have input back when they recorded the Airports pod.
@Randy, you mentioned singles night at the grocery store and I hadn’t heard of that, but I have heard of the upside-down pineapple in your shopping cart is a signal you swing.
Keep an eye on those pineapples, guise!
I’m a local and was looking forward to this one…not much Memphis discussion at all. @Randy Kroger is king in Memphis as well…don’t let KP give you shit for that take.
What sort of single people buy enough groceries to require shopping carts?
Was this whole podcast a bit to just mention as little about Memphis as possible?
I was legitimately stoked to hear them talk about the city, maybe some Commissary BBQ
intrigued by how gentrified the san francisco version of this will sound next week
Agree. Kinda bummed
This is amazing!
I’m solidly on #TeamFreshMarket . It’s the only place in the city where I can consistently find good produce and herbs.
Admittedly haven’t listened yet, might not anymore. But my own food recommendation - Flight. It is in downtown Memphis and honestly one of the best all around meals I’ve ever had
Also I thought @Tron would mention “The Firm.” Seems like the film is right up his alley after hearing the 90s action movies Pod.
Kroger sucks. Their good stores are fine. Their bad stores (of which there are many) are wildly inconsistent and have a terribly low floor.
As for Memphis, some of you seem to be expecting a “Parts Unknown” style episode where we dig down and capture the soul of a place despite never having been there. Some of these weeks are simply going to be a fun vehicle for us to BS about random stuff with some topical stuff about the local area mixed in. Some will be much more in depth and draw upon personal experiences. Obviously good barbecue - tough for us to have a detailed conversation when neither of us have had it.
Also, The Firm was good, both book and movie.
I know. It was more a joke towards KP. I was hoping he would bring it up since he was the only one who has spent time there. I’ve been enjoying these podcasts!
Morgantown WV has a “ghetto Kroger” and a “Gucci Kroger.” I heard this is pretty common in college towns
Atlanta has “Murder Kroger” and “Disco Kroger.” But Murder Kroger is gentrified AF now and prob one of the nicer locations in the area. And then Disco Kroger is fantastic, but got destroyed during the riots a few weeks back.
But let’s be honest - Publix runs shit.
