Trap Draw Golf books pod

Shout out to Big Randy for pulling together Jim Hartsell, Stephen Proctor and Michael Wolf to discuss their favorite golf books. It was incredibly informative. I bought a few books on Amazon thanks to the pod. If you have a love of golf history and books, please give it a listen! Cheers “Big!”

That was so much fun to do. We could’ve kept going for another 2 hours.

It was a great podcast. Listen to it on our drive to Michigan…I kept telling my wife. “That would be a good gift….that would be a good gift”

Hey Jim, just ordered your book. Meant to do it after your first pod u did with Randy. The recent book pod reminded me. Looking forward to read it and getting down there at some point.

Loved this pod and it was perfect timing for me. Over the past couple of years I started to find a love of reading, through golf books, which I never really had before. While To The Linksland, A Course Called Ireland, The Match and a couple others spoke to my soul, I was still wondering what else was out there. With this list, and the endless roads they can lead me down, I am now set up for a lifetime of stories that will provoke thoughts, feelings, dreams and connection.

Also I might be ready to declare @Randy and @SCGC5th my spiritual sherpas

Thank you for the kind words. I have a feeling we will do a Volume 2 of this at some point in the future. The response has been great.

If folks are interested in knocking one of the selected from their reading lists, we’re reading Golf Dreams by John Updike for next book club

What’s the best place to buy Confidential Guide by Doak. Ebay?

Yes, for one of the originals. The price for even a second edition can be pretty steep.

Here for the “modern” versions: The Confidential Guide to Golf Courses | Golf by Tom Doak | Golf Books.

To The Linksland has been on my radar for a while but with it out of print haven’t picked it up. I showed it to my son in October as a Christmas gift idea, but he’s 20 and likely didn’t pick it up when I pointed it out.

Told my mom about it this week, and told her to check with my son first. She had a look and they are unavailable on Amazon, and she found another copy for$500. Was told she loves me but not that much!

Is this a Trap Draw bump for the book @Randy ?

I’m hoping they maybe do another print run. I look for it in every used bookstore I go into but no luck. Can’t get my hands on the damn thing.

Unfortunately, not a podcast bump. Tried to buy a copy last year after a few people here recommended it and ran into the same issue. Did you check your local library? That is where I ended up finding it.

Keep your eyes peeled on eBay, they pop up

Anybody know a place to find The Spirit of St Andrews for less than the $65 folks want on ebay? Also, it seems there was a run in 1995 and 1998 - any difference?

Thriftbooks is where I get most of my stuff. You can put it on a watch list and they’ll email you when they get any in.
