Trap Draw: Chop Sessions

I’d like to be invited to this just to listen to GB talk about going to see TS.

GB didn’t get to go! His daughter went with her awesome Uncle Big. Really a sweet story.

I know, but GB probably embellishes his daughters story which i’m here for

Not to be all People Magazine here but did Big Randy just make a significant other Trap Draw official?

Thrilled to hear UFOs are officially being monitored. Public hearing on Wednesday with two navy pilots and an air force intelligence officer talking about what they’ve seen, Schumer authoring pretty remarkable legislation to be included in the defense authorization act, and defense contractors clamping down on their employees. Should be fun!

Thank you @Randy for such an awesome recap of the T Swift concert! I had the chance to take my wife to the Kansas City Night 1 show at Arrowhead, and it was absolutely unreal. Surpassed expectations for sure. I’ve gone to a lot of concerts, including bands like Pearl Jam and Phish that put on epic, 3 hour+ concerts - and this experience was right up there among the best (easily top 10…maybe top 5 experience?). It’s really something to see a performer at the peak of their powers captivate and entertain 60,000+ people in the palm of her hand. And like Randy said, the entire crowd was so giddy and joyous it really leaves an impact on you.

The crowd was so loud at one point (during the Cruel Summer bridge) that I literally couldn’t hear either Taylor or any of the sound coming through the speakers - the crowd literally overpowered the entire PA system, which might be the first time I’ve ever experienced that during a concert. I don’t know how she does it for 3.5 hours a night, with basically 90-120 second “breaks” as she quickly changes costumes.

I think the lightbulb moment I had after the show was that this demand and frenzy for her shows on this tour is based on essentially the same set every night, except for 2-3 songs. While I know it’s trickier given the choreography, lights, etc. - she could easily switch up maybe 10 songs a night and drive the demand even higher. The “Eras” tour concept is such a great idea. My wife and I rattled off at least 10 “popular” songs that she didn’t play that night, despite the 3.5 hour runtime. Personally I love seeing bands with more spontaneity and variety night to night - it’ll be interesting if she moves in that direction as she gets older and her catalogue continues to grow, or if she keeps it pretty standard for each show. The hippie band side of me wonders if we’ll start seeing Swifties comparing setlists and exchanging bootleg recordings…that would be wild!

Overall, one heck of a fun night and i can’t recommend it enough the next time she tours. Glad to hear I’m not the only “Swiftie” on the board @dflock24 @Flex @ChasingScratch . My outfit was a bit more subtle than Randy’s but my only goal was just not to embarrass my wife - it was her night!!

there are more Swifties here than people lead on, saw the 1989 tour and still think about how much i enjoyed that show. In my Top 5 concerts of all time and it’s probably close to 100-150 concerts

I am going to see her in Cardiff! Do I know anything about Cardiff? Nope. Will it be amazing. FOR SURE!

I’m not ashamed to admit I’m one of them. I respect the hell out of her as a performer, as a business person, as a woman, and as a songwriter.

AFAIK she’s never done much acting beyond Cats or a voice actress (Lorax), and I don’t know if that’s on her list, but I wonder how good she’d be at acting eventually (though it’d probably be a big pay cut, so she may not want to do that much).

FWIW my favorite concert experience of all time was a Natalie Merchant concert. She played to about 2000 people at Chautauqua Amphitheater near her hometown. She played for 3.5 hours, and I was in the second row about ten feet from her for almost the entire time. She sat down and played some folk songs from the 1800s, was saying hi to specific people she grew up playing, and had spent a week back at home relaxing before the concert. It was incredibly relaxed, and she was relaxed, and she just gave all she had to everything that night. It was so intimate.

She was just in Amsterdam last fall. I didn’t see it, but I think her part was pretty small.

Yeah, I saw that. She was on screen for about five minutes, then got hit by a car and died.

I didn’t particularly like that movie.

That’s fucking awesome! If you have the opportunity make it to a rugby game there. It’s their national sport and they’re so passionate about it. It’s a bucket list item to see their national team in Cardiff.

I showed The Giver last year in class (average book, worse movie) and she randomly plays a part in it. She was way too big of a star at the time to have played this part.

Taylor opened for Brad Paisley during his 2007 tour. A girl I was seeing and I went to the Paisley concert at Shoreline (Bay Area). She really liked Taylor after seeing her open and heard Taylor was playing at a small country music club in San Jose (Club Rodeo) shortly there after. We went to the show and there must have only been a hundred people there, we sat at a bar table maybe 20ft from her. Incredible to think this is the same person.

Also loved @Randy recapping the show. Made me genuinely consider going in the future and I’m not really a fan of her music.

But the best part for me was when @Tron asked what thing in life he didn’t like but wish he did. Driving in my car, I just said “olives,” because I hate them and wish I didn’t just because folks who like olives can’t believe it, and I’m sure it would make so much more food good, etc. But I have always hated them. All of them. Glad to know I have The Elder Schuster in my corner

Brother.

As a fellow olive hater, I enjoyed that as well. Green, black, pickled, whatever. They all suck.

YARN | - Why? - It's a thing. There's dozens of us ...

I will sometimes suffer through an olive at the end of a martini, but that’s it.
