Between railroads, airports, FAA air traffic controllers calling in, the choke points, airlines, mayor Pete mentions, I legit think the TrapDraw is more transportation pod than anything else
Big Wallyās fan boy here, emailed them regarding the comparison to Buc-eeās. They would like to listen to the podcast and set the record straight.
@Randy @Tron I listened to the tipping pod this weekend, and was particularly moved about the comments in regard to pizzas drivers and their expenses
Inspired by the discussion, I tipped our pizza driver a bit more than normal - he seemed genuinely grateful!
On behalf of myself, our delivery driver from Raimondoās, we thank the Trap Draw for once again helping all those who listen have a deeper understanding of the world around them.
Shared prosperity and global mindfulness for all!
@tron @Randy Thought about calling the hotline, but as Jay Jenkinsā (aka Jeezy, aka Young Jeezy, aka Mr. Jeezy) legal counsel, Iām compelled to put this in writing as formal notice.
In exchange for the free use of Mr. Jenkinsā song Standing Ovation as intro music to your podcast, The Trap Draw - an agreement was made that you would āthank Mr. Jeezyā at the beginning of each show. It has come to our attention that this is not happening, despite many of your listeners calling you out on it.
This egregious disrespect of Mr. Jenkins must stop immediately, or you will give us no option but to serve a cease and desist to ProTraj Holdings.
I was appalled that the first chop session back after that mea culpa was an immediate disrepsect to Mr. Jenkins.
He never reported back, RIP MarkyMark
āA Podcast, Things of That Natureā
Some provocative exploration going on at DEN, might need @Randy to go in and pull him out if he gets too far in there. https://twitter.com/shaqdej/status/1629719304445853696?s=20
The tipping discussion was a fun listen.
I have worked in the service industry in a tipping culture (US) and a non-tipping culture (UK).
I always correlated the level of my service to the possibility of a greater tip. Not always, but if I busted my ass and made it a special experience, I could bank on that 20%. Now 20% is just table stakes. I have so many other thoughts about tipping, the confusion, the inequities for the kitchen staff, how itās the OG only fans, and more.
But rather than all that, Iāll share a few observations of bartending at a well-known pub in London:
-
We got paid minimum wage, and basically didnāt get tips. The food servers got some tips. We did get to live above the pub for very very cheap. But not all of the barstaff did, and so all workers were travelers, in London to learn English, or your typical immigrant kitchen workers much like in US. We pooled all tips the bar did get to buy pizza and beer like once a month. Should we have bought Bitcoin? Whoās to say.
-
Though we didnāt get tipped by most Brits, if we had a group having āsessionā, after a few rounds theyād often say something like āfive pints of harveys, a pint of broadside, a carling, and a drink for yourself, mateā¦ā We couldnāt drink while we worked, and they couldnāt buy us drinks directly, but Iād always take 3-5 quid out of their change and throw it in our tip jar. Obviously when they got drunk theyād do more and more of this, and I could make 20+ quid off of a group of dudes (sorry, mates) pretty easily.
-
I heard more than once that Americans are usually the hardest workers in service industry at pubs. I asked the GM of my pub why he hired me, and while I did have a reference, theyād basically hire any American (and Canadian, Iād guess) site unseen. Language was part of that, but work ethic was even more so. He ran pubs in England his whole life. And more than one person I spoke to correlated the work ethic and hustle to us being a tipping culture. If everyone gets tipped constantly is there a point to hustle? One example I remember was a VERY busy night. Bar is packed. Full of lads leaning up to the bar shouting for our attention in non-uniformed fashion*. There was one SAF-er at the bar waiting patiently. I went up and served him and he said āno surpirise the one from a tipping culture is the one to get me my drinkā
-
On that note, Iād always give BETTER service, or make sure I was extra friendly, to SAF-ers and yanks to make sure I got a tip. Iād get 20 quid notes from yanks all the time just cause they thought what I was doing was adventurous or fun or whatever.

Iāll be back at my old pub for the first time in 15 years this summer. Will be interesting to see how tipping has evolved (if at all).
*Somewhat related, one of my biggest pet peeves is when bartenders are unable to help bar guests identify who is ānextā to be served. The most annoying person, largest douche, or most flirtatious always gets served first it seems. Drives me crazy. Thereās no ālineā or objective way to identify who was there first. I would always turn around to a sea of lads in Chelsea jerseys who wanted another drink more than oxygen. Leaning over the bar, their fists in the air with their 10-er. And iād just say āYou guys tell me, who was next? Letās be civil.ā

I went to a Subway today for the first time in probably a year (I go about once a year), and there was an option to tip my sandwich artist. While I have been to Subway ~7 times in the last 7 years, I have been probably 300 times before then in my life and never tipped other than change.
What made this processes so easy is my food was already done, in a bag, and an inch away from my hand. No tip and move on. When you have to tip before your food is made you feel obligated to do something so the order doesnāt get messed up.
Should have tipped them with an āIām a fucking artist now, even if the art is shitā YOTB sticker.
Got a smoothie today and at the drive thru window the guy ran my card and then said āThe machine is asking if youād like to leave a tip. Would you like to?ā and he gave me a look that said āHey man, I donāt enjoy asking you for this any more than you enjoy being asked.ā
I tipped him a couple bucks.
Itās so gross. We need federal legislation. You have one of those point of sale tip prompts at your business you die by firing squad. Itās the only way.
Went to a new sandwich shop in town. Clicked the auto 15% on the card reader and the person behind the counter said āTip money!ā, then all the workers making sandwiches had to say, āThank you!ā in unison.
So Iām never going back there again.
The coney dog place in the town I grew up has a jar and a bell. You put your tip in the jar they ring the bell. Itās the best. When I was in town around Thanksgiving I watched some lady get a $55 order and not too, that stuff is classless. Whole setup behind the counter is 4 guys at most. A guy on the fryer, a guy on the flattop, one doing the assembly and one doing drinks and cash out.
Lipumas coney island, thereās guys working there who have been there since I was in HS. Old man lipuma made himself a millionaire selling hotdogs, thereās the American dream!
And now I want a coney.
Damn it, Lipumas! I used to live in Rochester. That place is awesome.
