I got a hundred bucks that says within the hour our whole company will get an email blast from HR that says something like “NOBODY COMMENT PUBLICLY” so let this be my one and only joke

Anyone stranded in ATL? I got all day now due to the wonderful FAA. Could be a Roost meetup. Always gotta loop @Tron into these discussions. I know he’s getting bombarded this morning. Tough day for Mayor Pete.

All of ATL being shut down sounds like a fucking nightmare… not sure if it’s going to be better to stay and endure the overcrowding chaos as people continue to swarm in, or if it’s best to escape and risk being stuck in a hellacious TSA line later whenever you need to come back.

Same conundrum applies to JFK, ORD, SFO… big yikes day. At least the airlines can sit back and truthfully say it’s not their fault (as of right now, anyway).

My brother got super lucky. He had an international flight leaving from CLT at 9:05 AM. The plane was already there from a flight last night. He’s actually on time with his flight and boarding right now.

Good thing you’re behind a paywall.

allegedly things are spinning back up so I’m (probably) out of the woods.

In an effort to get themselves off the hot seat, SWA orchestrated this software “glitch” so that main line carriers would have a harder time catching back up with their hub & spoke model.

i honestly wouldn’t be shocked if a bug in southwest’s IT setup crashed FAA. Third-party tech incompatibility and security risks are real, folks

Didn’t Florida have some problem with their system earlier this month? Wonder if there’s something related there that would’ve indicated a larger issue nationally.

I can report that air traffic was moving at Denver Airport this morning as I dropped my wife off. However, there is a snowstorm moving in this morning.

Pray for Southwest.

Southwest reimbursed me today for the rental car I had to drive from Dallas to New Orleans. Still waiting on the flight refund but impressed the reimbursement took less than two weeks.

In the immigration line there’s a American dude wearing a Boston Red Sox hat and a New York Yankees t-shirt.

I am immensely confused.

Edit: Heard him speak and no longer believe he’s an American. :joy:

Remember on oceans 12 where Clooney fights Caan over their hats on a train in Italy. Despite both being firmly middle aged?

I think about that scene a lot.

Business class from MNL to SIN on Singapore Airlines was a delight.

Happy to report that the wife and I were able to get seats next to each other for the rest of the way as well, though steerage class remains as torturous as it is on any airline. The cabin crew definitely treats you differently (poorly).

Something to note: the flights to Asian countries I’ve taken on this trip (Japan, Philippines, Singapore) have all been masks-required and the crew made multiple announcements about it and didn’t let anyone slide. Now that we’re headed to the EU and then the US, that’s not a thing at all.

I’m a Delta snob. Only fly them. Travel a good bit for work. I’ve had one issue in last 3 years. Until two weeks ago. Both times flying into ATL and our arrival gate is occupied. First time it happened I made it to my connection at the last possible second. This time (last night) we arrived 90 minutes prior to my connector and sat on the tarmac for 80 minutes. Missed my flight. We were told (both times) there was a large line of plans sitting on the tarmac and a bunch of empty planes were occupying the gates we needed to get to — maddening! How does this even happen?! And now it seems to be a trend. Get it together people.

Utterly disgraceful. Leveraging food allergies to pre board. Shoot these people into the sun.

Nothing like flying literally around the world and every flight was right on schedule only to arrive at JFK and see our JetBlue flight delayed for no good reason.

I’m going to avoid JetBlue going forward.

One could argue that being delayed due to JetBlue being a crappy airline is a “good” reason in that it is logical and predictable.

Not that that helps your current predicament, sorry.

Hope you’re on they way home soon.

You had to expect that with JetBlue right?

Airline travel is a true “you get what you pay for”

Shoutout Southwest.
