What in the hell route was BA flying for London to JFK to take 16 hours?
Did the LHR to JFK flight fly east instead of west or something?
Sure
Dammit just bought another app
Flighty has some glitches. It shows my shortest flight being Barcelona>Newark at 40 minutes.
Boarded in Heathrow onto a 747, taxi to the runway, they find something wrong, return to the gate to assess. Mechanic work on the landing gear takes 2+ hours so they have to offload everyone per British FAA equivalent rules.
BA decides the plane can’t be fixed in a reasonable amount of time. Second 747 happens to be handy, so they bring that one over and load us up. As we are boarding, the port side engine nearest to the fuselage turns into a fireball. Emergency evacuation back into the terminal. Fire gets put out, send everyone back onto the plane to retrieve their carry-on bags. Also, it’s December 23rd so the airport is minimally staffed while completely packed with passengers trying to go places for Christmas. BA has exactly two customer service agents working the help desk in the terminal, who now have to re-book all 400+ passengers from a fully sold out 747. Naturally, they do biz class first, rebook about 15 of them, and then say sorry tough shit to everyone else, because ofc there’s no more capacity. So back to waiting for the original 747 to get its landing gear fixed.
I called Amex as soon as I escaped the fireball situation and got the last seat in the back row of an AA flight that left a couple hours later instead of sticking around for BA to get their shit together, so I didn’t actually take the 16 hour flight. But, fun story.
Does flighty auto populate flight info if you link to rewards accounts? Or is all of this info manually entered?
I could not find a way to auto-populate, I manually entered all 285 flights over the course of a couple days. Had to type in the flight number and exact date for each one. Since Apple wallet defaults back to its home lineup of active passes & credit cards if you switch apps, I took screenshots of the list of expired passes and then went back & forth between photos & flighty to get it done faster.
People don’t delete expired passes out of their Apple wallet as soon as they land?
hmm
I don’t even use apple wallet, unless i am flying an oddball airline (WestJet this week fit that bill)
I’ve gone from scared to see this info, to very curious, but ultimately I don’t think I’m going to go through 10 years of flights on four airlines to figure it all out
It can auto populate from your calendar, or if you forward itineraries to their email account. Pretty easy to do.
I’m with @rka who keeps expired passes???
Flighty is incredible for those who love to look at data and very helpful for use while traveling. For importing, either forward your confirmation email to populate or import from calendar.
43 minutes to fly across the pond?? Not even the Concorde could achieve that!
Their data isn’t perfect yet, has issues updating new aircraft when a prior tail number is used. But it’s getting better with every update.
Any good food recs for layovers at ORD & EWR?
Have a 3hr layover in each for an upcoming trip and haven’t connected thru either airport before for a significant amount of time.
Fire your travel agent.
Eat in ORD. Much better options IMO, but admittedly I have not fully explored either airport so open to hearing about any stellar offerings at Newark from the regulars there
Been using Tripcase for 14-15 years. It doesn’t aggregate though, but I’m not sure I want to know how long my flights have been delayed over the course of my career.
Seems depressing.
Torta Frontera is pretty solid at ORD
