Trap Draw : Airports 4.1 now out

Just flew from GSP to DFW.

GSP is absolutely delightful.

DFW stinks.

I can second great customer service at skyclub at DCA.

Few months ago they stayed open until their last plane boarded because “we knew we’d have customers hanging around”.

Class.

Great views there as well.

Pretty sure that hand wash change happened like 3 years ago, but can’t say I’m locked in on the timeline.

Here are yesterday’s flight metrics from airlines impacted by crowdstrike sorted by cancellations.

Tough look for Delta lately, seems like they are still struggling to get back on track.

Sounds like they can’t get their crew scheduling back up. Which I believe is what hurt Southwest a few years ago when their Windows 3.11 servers couldn’t handle the load after a bad round of storms.

Edit:

This seems bad for the Trap Draw hitters at Delta

Still better than flying American!

Sure

I don’t think delta is much better at this point.

My flight was cancelled by Delta over the weekend, and they offered me a flight 10 days away as the next time they could get me to my destination. Was able to take an american flight the next day at a pretty reasonable price and now I cant apply for delta flight reimbursement because their app says my first name is not a legal name which is awesome

There’s a lot of soap/shampoo bottle fraud out there.

Buy the bottle once, fill it with whatever slop you can buy on the cheap for the rest of eternity.

Got hit by delta issues last night. Not too upset as it was just a work trip. Minor inconvenience. Hope they get things right soon. Have a golf trip next weekend that I don’t want to see impacted…

And truly find it funny all the people who say they’ll never fly delta again. Honestly hope its true. Clear out some customer base. It’s still the best flying experience in America. I’m not going anywhere. Buying the dip and asking for my medallion status to be upgraded next year!

eh call me a delta truther but I find it hard to blame the airline when the cancellations are caused by a worldwide cybersecurity incident - chalk it up to “will happen once a decade” imo

absolutely. i’m an atlantan and total delta homer. and I work in IT. I’m about as sympathetic to this situation as possible. And I don’t know what about Delta’s historical track record makes it seem like they’re going to not address the fundamental issues at hand and ensure it likely never happens again.

And while impacted by it, it was for a work trip and honestly not going on it has made my week a lot easier now. I was more stressed about getting to leave on the trip and then being impact on the backside and not getting home.

does Mayor Pete try to do too much here just to try to get some publicity to get on the ticket???’

WSJ: Delta Air Lines Meltdown Probed by Transportation Department

Officials investigate Delta’s response to CrowdStrike glitch as its problems linger

Federal transportation officials have launched an investigation into Delta Air Lines as the carrier struggled to rebound from an operations meltdown that led to thousands of canceled flights and stranded passengers.

Delta’s turmoil, spurred by last week’s CrowdStrike-driven outage that struck businesses around the globe, continued early Tuesday. Other major carriers in recent days largely recovered their operation.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said Tuesday the department “will leverage the full extent of our investigative and enforcement power to ensure the rights of Delta’s passengers are upheld.”

The DOT said the probe by its Office of Aviation Consumer Protection was prompted by Delta’s continued widespread flight disruptions and reports of what the department called concerning customer-service failures. Delta declined to comment on the investigation.

On Monday, Delta Chief Executive Ed Bastian recounted in an internal video message to employees how Buttigieg over the weekend reminded the CEO of Delta’s commitments to its customers.

“I said, you do not need to remind me, I know, because we do our very best, particularly in tough times, taking care of our customers,” Bastian said, referring to his phone call with the secretary.

The Transportation Department investigated a similar meltdown more than a year ago, when a punishing winter storm paralyzed Southwest Airlines’ operation over the busy Christmas 2022 holiday.

The DOT later hit the Dallas-based carrier with a $140 million civil penalty over what it said were violations of consumer-protection laws.

On Monday Atlanta-based Delta, which prides itself on punctuality and rarely canceling flights, scrapped more than 1,100 flights, or about a third of its mainline operation for the day.

As of early Tuesday, Delta had canceled more than 400 flights, or about 11% of its mainline schedule for the day.

This is from Sunday I believe but insanely hard to run on schedule when your operations system is down. Flight crew having to call in to say where they are and how many hours they have to work so Delta to assemble crews and move crews around to get the most flights out. Not ideal.

My brother works maintenance in ATL and was told do not go upstairs into the terminals. Passengers will see your Delta logo on your uniform. They are short tempered and will not care they you are maintenance and have no clue how to help
