Trap Draw : Airports 4.1 now out

Same thing happens at new SLC airport since it opened a couple years ago. People wait along the side of the road while a perfectly good, large cell phone lot (that is just as convenient as waiting on the side of the road where people are congregating) stays mostly empty because they used to just wait at the curb. It is slowly getting better, just takes time.

Was listening to this today and thinking how Andy is perfect for the Trap Draw, would love to hear more of him on there a few times a year

Shannon Airport has the lovely walk across the street and pick up your rental car. The whole process took approximately 7 minutes from arriving at the rental car counter to pulling away.

Now returning the car on the back end was a total disgrace…

Pete Dye is the perfect comp for Delta. Never felt better about something. Strong in the southeast. They both garner a lot of eyeballs with a few marketing gimmicks, and keep them coming back with unmatched technical excellence.

The praise for Sixt was disgraceful. They gave me a lemon at CDG and then tried to charge me for alleged damage to the car and the pictures they sent me were not even the car I rented. Bad hombres

I think amputating the feet a la the Sumerians is probably more appropriate.

Listening to the pod now, but @Tron redeemed himself a bit with the rental car discussion at LAX after saying he’d never had a bad experience there. ESPECIALLY as someone who flies United. I don’t mind the gates and stuff at LAX, but if you’re traveling with kids, the rental car situation is just brutal. I don’t know if they’ve always done this, but the last few times, the shuttles do not go on the departure level, only the arrivals level. So problem number 1, you’re hauling two kids, luggage, car seats, etc. upstairs instead of just being let off upstairs. But that pales compared to problem 2. If you’re on United, you’re the last terminal. And by driving on the arrivals level, they’re dropping off AND picking up, which means by the time you get to your terminal, the bus is packed, and you have to get all that shit off, which is a fucking nightmare. Also, the drive around from terminal to terminal add like an extra 45 minutes to your trip. Just brutal.

I flew UA to LAX last year, rented from Hertz, and yeah it sucks.

The only drawback to @Eggman 's idea about using Uber Black to an El Segundo off airport location is that those locations keep fewer cars so your options are limited.

Maybe I will use those wipes that Andy and Tron were bemoaning.

No better place to listen to this pod.

I’ve never thought of water filters not being changed in airports/water bottle filling stations. Now my OCD is going to drive me nuts on that, thanks Andy.

Another peeve that has come up for me.

People not knowing how to line up on the jet bridge when you have a gate check bag due to smaller aircraft.

Like yea. Of course there is a line. No you can’t just stand at the door because you’re more important than the rest of us.

Thought y’all would appreciate this story. Hobby Airport’s runway intersection was struck by lightning during a thunderstorm two days ago, shutting down all flights for a couple hours:

Unfortunately Southwest managed to shit the bed on rescheduling my dad’s 4:30 outgoing flight to Louisville, and didn’t cancel it until after 10 PM. He spent an entire afternoon and evening waiting to go, and wound up having to cancel the entire trip.

I am new to the rental car world over the past year or so. I’ve enjoyed National for the on the lot car choice, but have found that the small-mid size cities have really, really nice cars to choose from.

As far as rental car walk from the terminal, AUS is definitely solid for its size. SDF, CHA, RNO all nice one crosswalk pickups. I’m 2 for 2 on rental car shuttle nightmares in Denver.

As a National Executive Elite that is flying into MKE this August, I hope this is the case.

You’ll be just fine as somebody who walks through that part of the garage in MKE semi regularly on my way to/from the terminal.

Do they seem to have a lot of SUV’s?

Taking a risk booking the super cheap midsize rate and hoping to snag a large SUV for 4 guys, luggage and golf bags.
