I was not expecting to absolutely fall in love with the idea of going to Pinehurst but here we are
I loved the latest ep, I like watching Hueber mash balls and the new LPGA young hitter can play.
I think everybody is still a little shell shocked from the discourse that was had over flip flops and reclining airline seats…kind of keeping their distance from this thread…
Not my favorite episode. Felt spread a little thin with two guest players. For example in the Icarito vs Soly match Icarito went down 2 and then all of a sudden it was all square. What happened there? Did I miss something?
Agree with this, and then there was also the Soly comment that was (paraphrasing) like “I was 2-up, and played the next 6 holes in even and now I’m 1-down” and I felt like it was glossed over that Neil got HOT during that stretch
Icarito RAMMING the pin and then missing the 3 footer had me dying. Only he can pull that stuff off…
exasperated @Soly “that was going OUT OF BOUNDS…”
Icarito popping on a few holes may have helped.
Per the scorecard, he would have been getting a shot on 5, 7, 9, 10, 17, 18. So, natural that he made a big rally in that middle section of the course where he got three of his strokes. Big for Soly to get a lead and be able to close him out before he finished with stroke holes at the end.
A lot of courses, even if the 18th is the toughest hole on the back, won’t have it as the #2 handicap hole for this reason. No point in giving a guy a stroke there if the match never makes it that far. Plus, who wants a match settled on a hole where someone is getting a shot?
My only critique of the episode is that I honestly would have loved to see more of Lauren and that group.
I get it, it’s a nearly impossible task to put these episodes together, but show us the good golf from @MerchCzar.
I could only do so much.
You did talk him out of trying to Phil shot on 17. That’s good caddying but bad for content.
What he said:
What he meant:
I wanted to see him try it. Looked like the best play to me
@MerchCzar with the 10.2b(4) violation.
Is that showing too much ankle?
The caddie / player interaction when Neil was in the bunker setting up the Mickelson upside down shot was fantastic. My favorite part was the laugh… a pause… followed by “are you sure?”
Well done, sir!
Two episodes in to the Pinehurst section of the season and after playing Southern Pines last week, I really need to do a complete Pinehurst trip
That back lip is nowhere steep enough to pull that shot off
Likelihood it would’ve been bladed 50 yards in to the woods (which is actually probably an adjacent hole)?
