Out of curiosity, what does Bandon look like during the Amateur. Is the resort still partially open to guests and are the other courses still playable? Did they make any changes to Bandon Dunes condition wise for the event? Will it be back open for play the next day? Is this all part of the boy’s plan?
He’s said he’ll be playing lefty for this tourist sauce.
The guy is breaking 90 already, at this point he’s probably better than half the Refuge. Asshole.
I can’t imagine it was a happy accident they arrived at this time.
I’ve seen Laurelwood, but I also wonder how the vibe is at Oakway? We may be making Eugene home next year and will be in Albany before we decide where to settle down. Really pumped to see a few cheap courses that may have some really relaxed vibes.
Pretty sure Bandon was selling US Am packages that you get to play the courses as the Am is happening/next day with the same pins and conditions and play other courses while the tournament is going on. Can’t remember exactly but thought i saw something like that on their website.
Spent 5 years in Eugene for college and now I’m back living here permanently. Laurelwood is the local hang. Super fun 9 holes. Personal favorite. Oakway as far as golf goes is an 18 hole executive (but you can buy a 30 rack in the clubhouse!) where you kind of just bang it around.
I loved playing laurelwood when I went to UO. Such a great little spot. I wonder if they will play a course in Bend.
Since it looks like they played McMenamins Edgefield, it would be cool if they stopped at Pumpkin Ridge.
Yup. I definitely remembering seeing the ads for that. I don’t recall exactly the dates and which courses one would play but the concept was play a round, go watch the golf after sort of thing.
I know they are planning on making it over to Bend/Central Oregon but I’m curious if it’ll be before or after Bandon
Seems like getting to Tetherow and Pronghorn would be the call for sure
All the gang’s Insta stories were from Gearhart yesterday.
Is @sundaybag a special guest this season?
I feel like I saw someone post something from Pumpkin, and it would make sense to hit it on the way out to the coast from Portland (honestly, they probably wouldn’t have physically been able to drive past without at least stopping there). I think you’re thinking of the Grand Lodge as the big McMenamins hotel near Pumpkin (with no golf, unfortunately).
Callaway did an Edgefield video a little while back, it’s pretty good and seems like it’ll be a fun course to see in TS. (spoiler alert, i guess?)
Would love for them to hit Manzanita, that was the town on the coast that we always went to growing up. A Gearhart Highlands 9 + a Manzanita 9 in the same day would be a fun makeshift composite course.
I don’t know much about the golf in between Manzanita and Bandon, other than Salishan. So I wonder what they’ll find in that span.
I’m pretty sure this is from Wildwood GC NW of Portland. There are 3 power lines that run the length of the 9th hole and seem to catch too many drives given their size.
Maybe Agate Beach? A fun 9 hole track in Newport that is on the way if they head down HW 101.
They also have a deal with the Oregon Golfers Association filling in any remaining spots on the non-used courses throughout the week. $155 per round which is an absolute steal, but the catch is you have to stay off property. Packing my bags as we speak!
DJ Pie recently posted a story on IG from the Astoria bridge north of Gearhart where they just were. Could they be headed up to Washington next?
