Tourist Sauce Season 3: LA to San Francisco

The only thing I can think of is it’s surrounded by houses on almost every hole but people don’t seem to have a problem with Pebble or other courses with mansions nearby.

Yes, they are punching two weeks before we visit, but a) I think that will be enough time and b) we are getting a 50% discount, accordingly.

It’s also not going to get as many bluebird days as a place like Torrey Pines. Plus, it’s wetter, and people are idiots and can’t separate what is and is not a controllable part of their experience

Oh SNAP I forgot all about that. Are puka shells involved?

Yes @GluteActivator, agree this is a factor. There is OB on nearly every hole as a result.

I think being 6500 yds from the tips hurts it for some raters. The course is all you want. There are a lot of uphill approaches and it just plays way, way longer than 6500, plus with the difficulty of the greens, the course is all you want. (Plus, par 70.)

You can even look at the scores from the Western Intercollegiate to know the place is no pushover. In three rounds, -8 got into a playoff. Colin Morikawa, now a winner on the PGA Tour was -3 in three rounds. The course is all you want for even the best, longest hitters.

But even a rater who goes out and gets beat up by the place, I think, looks at the card and might mark it down a notch for resistance to scoring just for the yardage.

Good luck.

I played it last October ~10 days after punching, and I could hardly tell. It was when I was in the area, so I went for it (and the 50% off). I was paired with a member, and he remarked that they never heal that quickly and they were a touch slower.

I can live with a touch slower!

I like @Soly’s theory. An interesting debate would be looking at Pasa vs Crystal Downs. Unfortunately, I’ve never played Pasa, so I can’t speak to it, but CD is 12th in the GD rankings, same architect and basically the same overall yardage, but completely private. I’m not sure if the guys, or anyone else on here, have had the chance to play both Pasa and CD, but I would be interested to hear how people think they compare. The stretch on CD from 5-9 might be as good as it can get. Seeing them being concerned about putting off the greens totally reminded me of CD, 11 in particular.

@matthew823, yes. It surprisingly touches every club in the bag even for longer hitters (300 yard tee shot is still long, right?). If you just look at the scorecard, can be hard to believe that. So much longer in Feb when they played it and fairways are soft.

I’m with you here. Love the TT, not a fan of the Truvis.

Can we please talk about @Tron’s fashion evolution? Am I wrong in saying he may have gone with a NBA Jerseys only look in college, with what appeared to be a horrendous Cavaliers Bob Sura in the repertoire?

Somebody, anybody, please explain how he went from jersey boy, to a golf fashion scripting icon?

@MerchCzar, @Soly, @Randy, @djpie, any historical insight here please?

You didn’t change from the time your were 19/20 to 30?

Tron’s fashion evolution seems to be a simple migration to me. Sure, he wore ugly ass NBA jerseys, and probably ugly ass other things as well. BUT, gd it, they were BOLD. His migration from BOLD young man’s sport jerseys to BOLD young(ish) man’s golf attire seems logical to me.

He follows a rule I definitely try to follow. lf you see a lot of them out there, I don’t want to be one of them. If it’s unique, I’ll consider it.

There’s a bell shaped curve on trying to dress “unique” and looking silly IMO.

Edit: that’s not to say @Tron looks silly. As I said earlier in the thread his scripting has been fire and today the hat really tied it all together nicely.

I think it’s more personal. One person’s idiot is another person’s icon. Of course there are limits, but they’re all self imposed. I say wear what you like. F the rules.

Edited from “looking like an idiot” to looking silly. Seems more apropos

How to you feel about wardrobe correlating to ones skill level? Do you think it looks silly if someone is a fashionista but can’t break 100?

yeah, personally, I LOVE his style. I told Neil (and Tron) they need to create a TC Collection. I’d buy em.

I agree. I ninja edited the post to say I wasn’t referring to tron looking silly.
