Tourist Sauce, Season 2 (SCOTLAND)

Things I hope to see in the rest of the season (but I won’t be disappointed if they don’t feature because its already so good)…

  • Irn Bru
  • some form of battered food (sausage or Mars Bar preferably)
  • crazy Scottish roads once they get off the beaten track
  • Randy giving us more insights into his on course mental processes

Irn Bru is waaaaaay too sugary for me. I tried it once and that was enough.

I own a Longchamp weekend bag. Stole it from my wife. It’s a guilty pleasure.

I’ve been wearing Lulu pants for four years. They’re comfy, functional and pack well. /not sorry

Once again, you guys nailed the music. Always fits perfectly, even if I don’t know the song or would never listen to a particular band, it works.

They’ve now cut the sugar in it…and by that I mean they had to cut the sugar in it because the Government in the UK started a ‘sugar tax’ to try and tackle obesity rates.

I will agree that its sugary…but my sweet tooth never saw that as a bad thing

Most comfortable pants I’ve ever put on and anyone who’s worn a pair knows there’s no need to justify anything about them. Anybody who’s tried them on would say the same.

hope we can get some shots of how bouncy it was out there. highlight that firm and fast for us, boys!!

Ep 3 is like one of those “moon bounce” things. It was inappropriately bouncy.

So, I’ve been really looking forward to Season 2 as I’ve played a fair bit of golf in Scotland and was very interested to hear the perspective of the NLU guys.

And what should pop up on Facebook memories today but this photo which is obviously taken on the 1st tee at the Old Course and it happens to be the last round of golf my dad ever played. I booked this as a surprise for his 70th birthday and the booking was made about 15 months in advance of today’s date in 2012.

Unfortunately in that time the arthritis he’d had for a while developed to such an extent that he found it so difficult to play, he decided that if he was going to end his playing days, he’d end it in style. It was a really cold day and he managed to play the first 9 with us but then the cold started to bite. He walked the holes to the 17th green simply just admiring the course and the way the bunkers were constructed and the magic of the place itself.

He didn’t feel good enough to hit the drive on 17 but he threw a ball in the Road Hole bunker and he got out first time which made him particularly proud. I made sure we got well ahead of the group behind so we could linger on the 18th and drink a toast with some whiskies I’d bought from behind the 9th green. Not sure if it was due to the alcohol but he then smashed one final drive down the 18th, as good a shot as I’d seen him hit for a few years. Unfortunately, in true ‘my dad’ style, he duffed his second into the Valley of Sin and three putted for a bogey but it mattered not, we had a final embrace on the green and that was that. Off for a very boozy evening!

If this seems a bit over sentimental, I’m sorry but my dad put a club in my hands at the age of 12 and taught me as much as anyone about this great game. I think this is why I love this site too, listening to the passion that everyone so obviously has for the game.

Long may it continue gents…and this is only Episode 1!

Brand new here (waves hello), as a Scot I’ve really enjoyed the perspective the guys brought to trip around the old place. Soly’s original write-ups of his trip last year were a great help when we planned our own trip to the Inverness area in spring 18. Really looking forward to those videos…Nairn being just about my most enjoyable round of golf ever and I want to live there.

The Lulu Core Short is a staple of my workout apparel. I get it.

This post made me tear up a bit. Cheers to you and your dad. What a great memory.

Thanks Job, I think the message here is to take every opportunity you can as you don’t know when it will end…which is why I have Sweetens Cove very much on my agenda!

Wow. Great story and thanks for sharing. This is what golf is all about.

I love the ‘mental miss’ idea. So hard to do though. And it can backfire. If you mentally miss a putt and physically miss it, that’s not good for the confidence. But I completely understand if you’re at such a low point and it can’t get any worse. Been there.
